As Cidori works in partnership with a growing number of colleges across England, a key objective is helping unemployed people into positive destinations. Feedback from Job Centre Plus, with whom we work closely, regarding Graham - one of the learners with our partners at Buckinghamshire College Group is great to hear: "My customer has just finished the Cidori (Construction Skills) SWAP, he thoroughly enjoyed the course and got so much out of it, he is really positive moving forward back into work once his (CSCS) card comes through, they also helped him update his CV which he was so thankful for, a very happy customer this morning." When learners call their apprenticeship "incredibly engaging" and as a result of completing the programme they have been "rewarded with multiple promotions and pay increases" this surely is something worth talking about as we mark National Apprenticeship Week! Deciding to sponsor and present a national student award was not a decision Cidori took lightly. But we’re glad we did. Since announcing this, we know a little more about the worthy winner – Ebony-Mae Palliser from Northampton College. Ebony-Mae is not only a talented operatic singer who beat tough competition to be crowned Adult Student of the Year, but a ‘singing sensation’ who has put on charity concerts, raised awareness for good causes, organised entertainment for care home residents and even performed for a host of politicians and celebrities at Downing Street. She also lives with multiple severe health difficulties which often leave her in a lot of pain, feeling very unwell and extremely tired and dizzy. Yet as College Principal, Jason Lancaster stated about her Level 2 Music Performance course at Northampton College: “What makes her success even more inspirational is she has done all this while showing an incredible commitment to her studies…” Inspirational indeed…well done Ebony-Mae and to the team at Northampton College who have clearly succeeded in making learning what it should be!
