We've just launched our latest link in the city’s expanding walking, wheeling and cycling network! Thanks to everyone who joined us to celebrate, including the local community, Dalry Primary and Tynecastle High pupils, walkers, cyclists and our partners at Sustrans Scotland and Scottish Government. It was fantastic to see so many people out enjoying a stroll, dog walk, cycle or run as soon as it opened. Providing a completely new, green connection from Roseburn to the West Approach Road and Fountainbridge, the route runs through previously under used land, offering safer and easier green travel options and play areas in the heart of the Dalry community. As well as two new bridges, one of which runs over the railway line with great views of passing trains, Dalry Community Play Park was completely updated with facilities for both younger and older children. This was designed with the help of Dalry Primary School pupils. https://lnkd.in/e5JdZmvw

A set of 12 ‘Season’s Greetings’ cards, designed by Edinburgh pupils, are bringing festive joy to shoppers on Princes Street this weekend in a display across our digital screens at bus shelters 🎄❄️🧣 3 of the young winning artists joined Lord Provost Robert Aldridge and Council Leader at The City of Edinburgh Council, Cammy Day, at a bus shelter to unveil their designs. We'd like to hear from people about our proposals to raise more income and make more savings before we set our budget next February. Our costs are continuing to rise and our income isn't keeping up, so we have some difficult decisions to make. Please give us your feedback at https://lnkd.in/eDuMDHGS

Fantastic to see work on ‘Gas Holder 1’ nearing completion restored for us by McLaughlin & Harvey Ltd. If you’re down in Granton Waterfront after dark you may see us testing the structural lighting which will be a permanent feature when we open the park later this month. Watch this space!

Have your say on our vision for Princes Street and the Waverley Valley, which includes Waverley Station and area around it, Princes Street Gardens and the Ross Bandstand. Our draft strategy will help us to make decisions on how to revitalise this part of the city centre, making it more vibrant and welcoming, while preserving this incredible World Heritage Site. We want to: ✔ Create a more accessible city centre ✔ Protect green spaces ✔ Revitalise Princes Street ✔ Make improvements to Waverley Station This survey is for anyone who has an interest in the area. Developers, business owners, city centre residents, those who travel there for work or leisure or anyone who likes to pop in to town to shop or visit a restaurant. You can take part in some or all of the survey - just select the sections that are important to you. https://lnkd.in/eDrHEsc6

Might you have time to make a difference where you live by joining your community council? Community councils are groups of people who care about their community and want to make it a better place to live. Your community council is looking for new members. Individuals and groups are welcome to join. Find out how you could make a difference at one of our drop-in sessions taking place across the Edinburgh area between November and February. https://lnkd.in/eeAdZptD A community council is a voluntary organisation set up by statute and run by residents living in the area. As the most local tier of elected representation, community councils play an important role in local democracy. They advise, petition, influence and advocate numerous causes and cases of concern on behalf of local communities. Here are some examples of what they can do: • carry out projects to enhance their community for all types of citizens such as older people, single mothers, minority groups and young people. • issue community newsletters • conduct local surveys • campaign on local issues • organise community events such as local galas.
