Policing the Square Mile brings with it particular challenges, quite unlike any other policing area within the UK. The City of London is the world’s leading international financial and business centre. It is an area where disruption to ‘business as usual’ would have significant impact on the diverse range of business interests located here.
We are committed to fighting crime at all levels. Although we fulfil a national role tackling fraud and other serious criminality, our local role is no less important to us.
Last year, over £28 million was lost to charity fraud.
To help support #CharityFraudAwareness week, T/Detective Inspector Chris Buckingham, from the National Fraud Intelligence Bureau, delivered a talk hosted by the Fraud Advisory Panel on the importance of reporting and gave tips on how to prevent charity fraud from happening.

City of London Police officers and staff were celebrated at our Force Awards ceremony, held at the historic Guildhall.
It was an opportunity to shine a light on those who go above and beyond in protecting the Square Mile and identifying, disrupting and prosecuting fraud and economic crime nationwide.
Shopping online this festive season? 🛍️

Yesterday we had a College of Policing Code of Ethics Roadshow at Bishopsgate Police station for our officers and staff with the College ACC Harding and some of our Code of Ethics representatives.
It was great to see such a good turnout and learn so much from the College of Policing.
How much do you know about safety in the City or our work on fraud?
You’ve told us you want increased police visibility, a focus on hate crime and cycle crime.
Have we missed any other priorities?

A drug dealer has been sentenced at the Old Bailey to 32 months in prison, for possession with intent to supply class A drugs.
Alehandro Zeneli, 21, of no fixed address, was also convicted of driving without insurance and driving without a licence.
On Thursday 15 August 2024, a City of London Police officer stopped the vehicle Zeneli was driving on Farringdon Street at around 6:30pm, following suspicious behaviour.
Officers from the Targeted Intercept and Tactical ANPR team (TITAN) carried out a search of the vehicle and, with the help of a police dog, drugs were found hidden in the sun visor.
Around 20 sealed bags of cocaine were found and further searches led to finding £360 in the centre consol.
Two mobile phones were also recovered, with one of the devices showing messages that suggested drug dealing.
Chief Inspector Jo Cash, at the City of London Police, said:
“City of London Police officers will proactively target offenders and we will take action to disrupt and purse those involved in the supply of Class A drugs on the streets of London.
“This sentencing should send a message to those involved in drug dealing, you will be arrested, charged and sent to prison.”
TITAN was launched following hugely successful intelligence-led operations to track down vehicles known to be involved in criminality using the City’s extensive camera network.
The team conduct a mixture of pre-planned and spontaneous tactical response to high harm offenders. They are targeting drug suppliers, phone snatchers, money launderers and those controlling modern slavery and human trafficking.
Our regular cluster panels take place this month and are an opportunity for the local community to share their concerns and help us set local policing priorities.
