We have developed a step change solution specifically to enable local authorities, public bodies and government to continue holding their formal meetings - be they where all members are remote (virtual), where some members are on site and others are remote (hybrid) and when all members are physically on site in a room. The single software system: • Enables members to attend a meeting from any place • Integrates with existing equipment: documents, microphones, cameras, displays, recording & webcasting. • Includes all meeting management needs. • Enables public’s right to access, attend and speak at meetings remotely. • Provides detailed meeting reports. • Meets ADSO’s guidelines. • Is aimed at local authorities and national governments. Our streaming solution provides citizens with easy access to council library of live and achieved meetings and linked documents, offering increased access, accountability and engagement in the democratic process and the decisions that affect them. Civico enables everything and everyone involved in a Council meeting to seamlessly connect to form a single intelligent conference system: streamlining complexities, workflows and cost.

Would Proxy Voting at Council meetings weaken local democracy? Whilst we hear support among Councils for Hybrid Committee meetings and voting, there seems to be some scepticism from the sector on proxy voting. Here's how the House of Commons operates proxy voting and where it applies. (a) to new mothers, new fathers and adoptive parents or in circumstances where there have been complications relating to childbirth, miscarriage or baby loss; (b) in cases of serious long-term illness or injury, for the remainder of the current Session; and (c) in cases of risk-based exclusion from the parliamentary estate. Proxy Voting Scheme (pdf, 178KB) Proxy Voting Guidance (pdf, 158KB) At Civico, we’ve anticipated these upcoming measures by seamlessly integrating Proxy Voting into our hybrid voting system. This aside, it’s interesting to note officer's concerns that enabling members to cast a vote before a topic is fully debated could weaken democratic processes and impact public trust. What are your views on the topic? #Civico #HybridCouncil #HybridVoting #ADSO24
