We have identified five factors that will increase the flow of green, social, sustainability and sustainability-linked (GSS+) bonds and loans for the year ahead. Based on research into the 2024 market trends and areas of urgent focus in the fight against climate catastrophe, these factors look to both build on successes from the previous year and give a comprehensive, panoramic run-down of the socio-economic factors likely to be at the forefront of market activity this year. The markets insights for 2025 in brief: 1: Transition planning will highlight the magnitude of expenditure required to reach net-zero 📝 2: New governments bolster national ambitions 👊 3: Taxonomies: New definitions, and broader interoperability 📃 4: Adaptation and resilience expected to increase 📈 5: Insurance companies will step in 💪 Read more about how the markets looked at the end of 2024, as well as the factors that will drive change in 2025 HERE: https://ow.ly/2Got50UC0G8

We will explore how these criteria support sustainable practices across key areas such as deforestation prevention, biodiversity protection, and improvements in water use and animal welfare 🫡 Join us to learn how the criteria align with global sustainability frameworks like the Paris Agreement and the Global Methane Pledge, and how they can help accelerate the transition to a low-carbon, sustainable agricultural future. • NOW OPEN: Public Consultation for Alternative Proteins Criteria 🌎🍴 Livestock farming contributes 60% of food system emissions and 12–20% of global GHG emissions, yet provides just a fraction of global calories and protein. To combat these challenges, we must scale up the production and distribution of alternative proteins—such as cultivated meat, fermentation-enabled dairy, and plant-based options. 🌱 The Climate Bonds Initiative is proud to launch the Public Consultation for the Alternative Proteins Criteria under the Climate Bonds Standard, from 9 December 2024 to 7 February 2025. This framework will help certify climate-aligned investments in alternative protein production and distribution, ensuring a sustainable transformation of global food systems. ✅ Your feedback is essential to shaping the sustainable transformation of global food systems. We need your voice! ➡️ Learn more and participate here: https://lnkd.in/dmAUs-n3 #ClimateAction #AlternativeProteins #SustainableFood #greenfinance #SustainableFinance

  • Save the date for the first Climate Bonds webinar of 2025 👇 🗓️ Monday, 13th January The climate transition requires large-scale mobilisation of private capital to transition energy systems, build resilient infrastructure, and develop sustainable communities 💪 Some of the greatest sustainable investment challenges lie in developing the market conditions, the de-risking provisions, and the financial structures needed to enable private capital to flow to crucial transition investments. Development finance institutions are a key player in this, maximising their mobilisation capabilities could hugely accelerate sustainable investment flows across the world. If all DFIs were to double the current best efforts on mobilisation, levels would increase to EUR740bn per year, having a major impact on global climate finance levels. Climate Bonds’ recent report, launched at #COP29, outlines a wide range of ways that DFIs, their shareholders, and policymakers can increase private capital mobilisation for green. In this webinar we’ll be unpacking these recommendations and hearing from experts on their experiences in mobilising capital. We'll bring you more updates throughout the week on speakers.
