#ShorelineManagementPlans provide a strategy for managing flood and erosion risk, as well as provide estimates on coastal change over the next 100 years. Last week, we visited Southwold Campsite alongside colleagues from East Suffolk Council's Asset Management team. We demonstrated the use of our new LiDAR-enabled drone and the data that can be collected. In the coming weeks and months you may see our drone team out and about across Norfolk and Suffolk as we gather LiDAR and Photogrammetry data to enable accurate mapping and modelling of the coast. The Resilient Coasts project is funded by Defra as part of the £200 million Flood and Coastal Innovation Programmes which is managed by the Environment Agency. The programmes will drive innovation in flood and coastal resilience and adaptation to a changing climate.

Today is World Drowning Prevention Day. Drowning is sudden, abrupt and shocking, with people often not realising it's happening until it's too late. With the right awareness and actions, bad situations can be changed quickly and for the better. Anyone can drown, no one should. Follow the #WHO's advice: 1) Learn to Swim Equip yourself and your kids with swimming skills. 2) Supervise Children Always keep a close eye on kids near water. Never leave children unattended, even for a moment. 3) No Alcohol Near Water Avoid drinking alcohol when supervising kids around water. Stay sharp and vigilant. 4) Be Aware of Surroundings Always check weather and water conditions before swimming. Stay informed and safe. 5) Use Safety Equipment Ensure life buoys and jackets are available and used correctly. In the seconds that matter, make the choice that may save a life. #DrowningPrevention
