About us
The "Codex" name embodies the Renaissance ideal. Each “Codex", or notebook, forms a testament to the ingenuity of Leonardo da Vinci and his visionary ideas which were centuries ahead of their time. Codex’s mission is to evoke a similar spirit of enlightenment by inspiring technology leaders and entrepreneurs to apply their collective imaginations to deliver technologies that will continue to transform our lives. Whilst the creativity of Leonardo da Vinci was captured in his notebooks, Codex shares the wisdom of today’s great innovators via Codex Talks and events. Joanna Hart - Thank you for your thoughtful post. Really enjoyed all the Space events last week. I cannot stress the importance of people in different tech sectors talking to each other. Looking forward to organising many more Space and Tech events in 2025. Last week was a lot of fun and highlighted the importance of 3 C's: ⁃ Conversation: Virtual meetings and (well thought out) emails may be time effective, but seeing people in person really helps move the conversation forward. You can test ideas, appreciate different perspectives and agree next steps in a matter of minutes. ⁃ Critical Thinking: John Bruun reminded about the importance of critical thinking when addressing problems. We had an interesting conversation about whether the space sector does this as often as it could (or perhaps should) and how you teach such important skills to undergraduates. ⁃ Confidence: I meet brilliant people with amazing ideas and the ability to come up with fantastic solutions. Through the Space Partnership I am trying to frame conversations that create a safe space for critical thinking, so that we can build confidence in the best of the proposed solutions. This was illustrated by the Institute of Physics panel discussion when Doug Liddle advised hopeful candidates to engage in a conversation with the organisation they would like to join, Sarah Beardsley explained that hirers need to use critical thinking to identify their actual skills rather than their wish list and we should all do what we can to give people confidence to follow their dreams (and in the case of Katie King, PhD start up a business in the space sector). Thanks to Rakesh Rawal for inviting me to moderate the Codex 'New Space Economy' panel and well done to Alex Davies for organising the IOP Space Group beforehand.

This is really exciting to join ‘A New Space Economy’ panel today. This event may be a milestone, not only to the space industry, but also to us. This year we expanded our investment universe to space and have been making a decent progress. I came here today is to explore more interesting opportunities. The takeaways of the event are more fruitful than I have expected. The vision of the panelists are already beyond 2030s, and looking into those emerging applications like space manufacturing. That said, I agree that the space economy has already transformed to deliver a sustainable growth, possibly starting from this year onwards. LEO constellation is getting mature. Besides communication, we will also see more used cases like earth observation, and application of AI and even Quantum Computing in those used cases. In addition, debris removal from the orbit should be an up-and-coming application. I encountered several companies engaged in this tech at the venue. We may start seeing more trials from probably next year onwards. Stay tuned^^
