About us

COH Baines was established in 1939, in Liverpool, England by Charles Oswald Henry Baines and his wife, Emily. A family run business, COH started life as a supplier of motor vehicle spare parts that contained rubber elements. By the 1960’s, COH was supplying patented rubber weatherstrips to a multitude of industries including, coach and ship building, engineering, aerospace and the sciences. Significant growth ensued and to support these endeavours, a second site in Kent was opened to help service demand for products on a national basis. Firstly, in Tonbridge and then later, in Tunbridge Wells, where our Sales Office remains to this day. 2020 saw the business return to its home roots of Liverpool where we established a UK central warehousing hub, with great road, rail and airport networks on our doorstep, we are supporting the Supply Chain of our domestic and international customers with a world class service offering. Maintaining our family values with a collective knowledge in excess of 70 years, the COH Baines Sales team are industry and application experts who have built long term relationships with our customers, providing product and service solutions to meet the demands of today in some of the most diverse industries. These include Aerospace, Automotive, Construction, Electronics, Engineering and Leisure Industries including, Caravans, Classic Cars and Marine. We have been ISO certified for over 20 years and our commitment to Quality is demonstrated not only by the integrity of our products, but in how we operate our business; customer satisfaction is at the heart of everything we do. • 🔥 Rubber to the Extreme 🔥 Did you know that space exploration wouldn’t be possible without rubber? 🚀 One of the most critical materials in spacecraft is Silicone Rubber—a polymer designed to handle the extreme challenges of outer space. Why Silicone? 👈 1⃣️ Silicone rubber can handle both scorching heat and freezing cold! 2⃣️ In space, materials face vacuum conditions that can cause outgassing (the release of trapped gases). Silicone rubber is specially formulated to minimise this, preventing equipment failure. 3⃣️ Whether it’s sealing airlocks or protecting sensitive electronics, silicone’s flexibility makes it an essential part of critical systems. Without this wonder material, we wouldn’t have the airtight seals that keep astronauts safe. No rubber, no breathable air in space. Kind of important, right?! 🤔 Space exploration relies on countless small yet critical components, and rubber is a star player. So next time you look up at the stars, remember: silicone rubber is helping humanity explore the universe! #SpaceExploration #SiliconeRubber #UKRubber #UKManufacturing

  • Rubber isn't just black and white! ⚫⚪️ Here we have made yellow natural rubber! By adding pigments during the milling process, natural rubber can be transformed into virtually any colour – from bold blue and vivid green to striking red or any custom shade you need. Why Use Different Coloured Rubbers? 🌈 Coloured rubber isn’t just about aesthetics – it serves real, practical purposes: Identification: Different colours make it easier to identify products, batches, or specific applications. Safety: High-visibility colours, like yellow and orange, improve safety in industrial environments. Branding: Custom colours can match your company’s branding or project requirements. Food-Grade Applications: In industries like food processing, rubber must meet FDA approval standards to ensure it’s safe, non-toxic, and suitable for direct or indirect food contact. Non-Marking Surfaces: Non-black rubbers are ideal for clean applications, such as medical equipment or food-grade environments From yellow to blue, green to red, natural rubber offers the flexibility to be both creative and practical while meeting critical industry standards. 🎨 What colour rubber would you choose for your next project? Drop your thoughts below! 👇 #ColouredRubber #RubberInnovation #ManufacturingSolutions #NaturalRubber #FDARubber #CustomColours #IndustrialProducts
