It's a Ladies' College versus Elizabeth College final for this year's Collas Crill Moot. The Ladies' College, Guernsey will be looking to hold onto their title for a third year when they face Elizabeth College, Guernsey in the mock trial inter-school competition. The students will go head to head in a fictitious negligence case involving a team of ex-international cricket players. For the fourth year the Deputy Bailiff, Jessica Roland, will act as head judge, giving her verdict in the mock trial on 3 December, which will once again be taking place in the Royal Court. Joining the Deputy Bailiff on the judging panel will be Collas Crill's Senior Partner, and Lieutenant Bailiff, Jason Green and Partner Wayne Atkinson. Good luck to Mariella, Amelie, Sam and Cameron from everyone at Collas Crill! https://lnkd.in/ehAwJjwz #CollasCrillMoot #SupportingTheNextGeneration #WeAreCollasCrill

A trust is a powerful wealth planning tool and, in most cases, the terms on which the settlor and the trustees have agreed that the trust fund will be held and administered is set out in a trust instrument. However, although designed to bring clarity, courts around the world are often tasked with interpreting the provisions of a trust instrument in order to establish the wishes of the settlor, long after they have died. The recent case of Marcus -v- Marcus serves to highlight the importance of context in understanding the true intention of a settlor. Fritha Ford explores this concept further here: https://lnkd.in/eUzcmGru ThoughtLeaders4 HNW Divorce | TL4HNWD #Trust #WealthStructures #PrivateClient #WeAreOffshoreLaw

Gin making at La Côte Distillery was just the tonic for our team of next gens in Jersey last Thursday. During their time in the 'Gin Lab' guests learned all about botanicals and then got to create their own bespoke gin to take home. With black forest gateaux, basil and lime and also chilli and cardamom flavour pairings - it was "cheers" all round. It was a great turn out this morning for the next instalment of Collas Crill's NextGen seminar series. Entitled 'International Sanctions: Assassinations, super yachts and Nelson Mandela' attendees heard how sanctions have evolved throughout history, the impact for those working in Guernsey's finance sector and top tips to avoid breaching sanctions. Despite what could be seen as a very technical subject matter, Associate Ben Newton gave a thought provoking talk that delved into the role of sanctions in combatting human rights abuses and injustices, alongside examining the ongoing saga of Russian super yachts and political assassinations. Ben commented after the talk: 'International sanctions are an ever evolving landscape and staying up to date and keeping yourself informed can be a challenge. Being aware of the first steps required when faced with a sanctions issue and taking swift legal advice can make all the difference in preventing a significant fine or, in certain circumstances, even a prison sentence.' Thank you to everyone who joined our NextGens. #NextGen #Sanctions #WeAreOffshoreLaw

Our Insolvency and Corporate Disputes team was dressed to impress at the Collas Crill Monte Carlo night to raise money for the Cayman Breast Cancer Foundation ✨ 'Thank you to all of our guests for attending the third annual Collas Crill Monte Carlo Evening. As a result of your enthusiastic generosity we have raised KYD $10,000 in donations for the Breast Cancer Foundation – a wonderful achievement that truly reflects the kindness and compassion of our community,’ said Local Managing Partner Stephen Leontsinis. 'Many thanks to our sponsors Indigo Hotel, Blackbeard's, RYDE and the Ritz Carlton Spa for donating an array of wonderful prizes to our raffle. And congratulations to this year's winners - Alex Lawson, Amiel Gottlieb, Matthew Varendorff and Jason Robinson - who, demonstrating incredible generosity, each donated their prizes to the Breast Cancer Foundation.' Beverly Edgington, Chief Administrator, Breast Cancer Foundation said: 'A $10,000 donation has the power to save lives through early detection. With 1 in 7 women facing a breast cancer diagnosis in their lifetime, access to mammograms is critical. This generous contribution from Collas Crill will fund over 65 screenings, giving dozens of women the chance to detect breast cancer early, when it's most treatable. 'This support is not just a gift of hope - it's a direct investment in saving lives.' Our Financial Services and Regulatory, and Insolvency and Corporate Disputes teams rolled up their sleeves last night and put their dough hooks to the test at the BREAD AHEAD bakery school in London, where they made fresh pasta and focaccia. 🍞🍝 They were joined by 15 clients from the London Insolvency and Fraud & Asset Tracing community after a busy day at the LIIARC - London International Investigations and Asset Recovery Conference. After tasting their creations the team then made their way to a local hostelry in Borough Market to end the evening. Thank you to all of the bakers who joined us, we hope you had a douglicious time! #WeAreOffshoreLaw #WeAreCollasCrill #LIIARC #Insolvency #Law Gareth Bell | Michael Adkins | Jonathan Barham | Nin Ritchie | Dave Marshall | Amy Davies | Andrea Goodman
