It is able to measure and quantify leaks as small as 0.06mm. Ensuring airtightness is vital to ensure that buildings and compartmentation are comfortable, healthy, safe and energy efficient. 🌐 At the Naval Damage Control Conference 2024, Coltraco Ultrasonics joined a global gathering of naval experts, from active-duty personnel to engineering teams, to explore innovations in damage control, firefighting, and ship survivability. Passivhaus airtightness is an internationally recognised standard for energy-efficient building design, minimising the uncontrolled flow of air between the inside and outside of the building. While achieving Passivhaus levels of airtightness comes with its challenges, the rewards in energy efficiency and comfort are enormous.    ⚡️ Energy efficiency: Passivhaus buildings use up to 90% less energy for heating and cooling compared to conventional structures. ♻️ Year-round comfort: Passivhaus buildings maintain consistent temperatures and high air quality, creating a pleasant indoor environment. 🌳 Environmental impact: These designs lead to lower emissions and significant energy savings and reducing energy consumption makes these buildings a major win for sustainability. 💨 Airtightness challenges: Achieving airtightness in tall buildings is difficult due to complex joints, various materials, and the effects of wind pressure on multiple floors. 🏢 Structural movement: Taller buildings are more prone to expansion, contraction, and gaps that cause air leakage over time.   Our colleague Angus Hodgkiss have tested our Portascanner® AIRTIGHT at the world’s second tallest building, pinpointing even the tiniest leaks as small as 0.06mm, making Passivhaus standards easily achievable.
