Yesterday we had a wonderful and emotional evening announcing the official name of our Deaf provision, the 'Deaf Education Centre' 🙂🎉
Our Deaf students have been enjoying their new base within the college, led by BSL Manager, Natalie Pollard, and her new team which includes a Deaf Centre Coordinator and six Communication Support Workers, all focused and committed to ensuring our d/Deaf students educational and communication methods are met. The students have already fed back their views about the new provision. They feel more confident and supported within their sessions with their dedicated CSW's.
We look forward to watching this Centre expand and welcoming more d/Deaf students into our college, community and beyond.
A very big thank you to our Acting Deputy Principal, Lisa Pyott, for making an amazing cake! It was truly delicious!
Acting Principal, Tracey Jamison said "We are absolutely thrilled that we have been able to invest in the Deaf Education Centre for our students! I am very grateful to the Deaf community for attending our consultation meetings and helping us name our new Deaf Education Centre! I am very excited for the future to come!"
BSL Manager, Natalie Pollard said "I am overwhelmed seeing the Deaf community get involved, celebrating this special occasion and being very euthanistic to see the centre evolve and thrive!"
