Three CHP sites across London have received defibrillators. CHP have worked in partnership with LIFTco partners in the area, Infracare Facilities Management and Bellrock Group, to bring vital life-saving equipment closer to the communities that need them. The defibrillators are housed in specially designed enclosures that were installed on external walls at each Health Centre within agreed locations to allow easy access and visibility. As an organisation, CHP supports the roll out of defibrillators across our healthcare buildings which are in the heart of their local communities. About us
Community Health Partnerships (CHP) provides a high quality and valued service to commissioners and local partners across England, with the aim of delivering savings, increasing service integration and driving optimal use of the primary and community health estate. Wholly owned by the Department of Health, we have a strong track record of adding value to the NHS, offering a unique blend of investment, property management and strategic estate planning expertise. CHPs dedicated Strategic Estates Planning expertise and resource is supporting the NHS and wider public sector to develop and implement Local Estate Strategies that will drive system improvements, support service transformation and release capital from buildings that are no longer fit for purpose. As head tenant for the £2.5bn NHS LIFT estate, CHP is responsible for the overall management of 305 primary and community healthcare buildings across England. We provide professional strategic asset management services to effectively manage our estate through improved utilisation and contract management, driving out value from property to contribute to savings.

It was fantastic to welcome NHS England Chair, Richard Meddings, and Primary Care Medical Director, Dr Claire Fuller, to Washwood Heath Health and Wellbeing Centre, Birmingham, last Tuesday. We are pleased to see how impressed they were with our building. We have been working closely with University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, Prime, Integral, Birmingham and Solihull Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust to deliver much needed facilities to an area of high health need. Washwood Heath Health and Wellbeing Centre has seen two major variations in recent years. The first saw a major refurbishment and remodelling commissioned by University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) via Birmingham & Solihull Integrated Care Board (ICB), resulting in the establishment of a state-of-the-art Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC). Funded by NHS England’s CDC Programme, this £2.15 million investment significantly increased Birmingham’s diagnostic capacity, enabling an additional 2,000 patients to be tested per month. The second phase focused on providing a dedicated space for @Forward Thinking Birmingham (FTB), a vital mental health support service for under-25s delivered by the Birmingham Women and Children’s Hospital Trust. Previously housed in an outdated facility nearby, FTB now benefits from a modern, fit-for-purpose space within the heart of the community. This £1.2 million investment, funded by CHP, showcases our commitment to providing accessible and high-quality healthcare and eliminates the need for travel to central Birmingham. Last week the NHS Confederation published a report on capital efficiency which highlighted the urgent need for reform in the NHS capital regime across five key areas to enhance productivity and support economic growth. The report also recognised Community Health Partnerships (CHP) pivotal role within the system given CHP’s expertise in the LIFT (Local Improvement Finance Trust) estate. CHP CEO Wendy Farrington-Chadd FCPFA shares her reflections from the report, and emphasised that whilst the report makes practical recommendations and many agree NHS capital reform is much needed, it should not distract from what is possible and deliverable now with current assets. A £480,000 reconfiguration project at Newington Health Care Centre in Hull has been completed, significantly expanding clinical capacity for the Haxby Group GP Practice. From Monday, February 17 2025, patients will benefit from three additional clinical rooms, resulting in improved access to primary care services. This expansion is a testament to the power of partnership working, bringing together Community Health Partnerships (CHP), Citycare Hull (LIFTCo), the Haxby Group, NHS Humber and North Yorkshire Integrated Care Board (ICB), and Sewell Construction. This is the second expansion of Primary Care services for the Haxby Group and includes three clinical rooms, an extra toilet, utility rooms and a storeroom were provided in January 2024. This project demonstrates our commitment to optimising space within our modern, core, adaptable NHS buildings, ensuring maximum utilisation and a better patient experience. Washwood Heath Health and Wellbeing Centre is a fantastic example of what can be done with collaborative partnership working to deliver services in our fit-for purpose buildings for the NHS.
Last year, we partnered with Forward Thinking Birmingham and Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust on a project that will have a lasting impact on mental health services in Birmingham. When the Blakesley Centre was identified as no longer meeting the needs of young people with mental health challenges, a decision was made to relocate care to the Washwood Heath Health and Wellbeing Centre. Community Health Partnerships and our Birmingham and Solihull LIFT (BaS LIFT) partnership were commissioned to reconfigure the first floor to create a modern, supportive environment for mental health care. This project demonstrates the power of partnership and design in creating a healthcare space that truly supports the community. Last week, a formal opening was held at the Enhanced Living Centre. The Hub, at the Bedford Health Village, is a partnership between Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Integrated Care Board, Bedfordshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, ASSEMBLE COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP LIMITED, and The De Parys Medical Group (TDPG) alongside CHP. The Enhanced Services Centre, a building where CHP are Head Tenant, and Gilbert Hitchcock House currently provide services including GP services, retinal screening and phlebotomy for 40,000 patients. Working in collaboration, the new £7m NHS England capital funded variation sees two buildings refurbished to create a fit for purpose integrated Primary Care facility. The variation will allow TDPG to consolidate patient services from four of its six locations into the newly developed site. It will bring a wide range of services together in one location, closer to home for patients. To read more: https://lnkd.in/eE9c6DjE
