Sometimes, you come across a video, that is more powerful than a thousand studies. 🚨 And one that shows how much we are dangerously underestimating the harms that shiny screens and mobiles phones are doing to developmentally vulnerable babies and children, with life long consequences to their brain, and therefore the future of society as a whole. 🧠 And although some may think this is just a sensationalist post, scaremongering parents, we must alert everyone to the fact that addiction isn't a glitch, it is a carefully designed feature! 😵💫 Meaning their use is rarely just a one off, but instead, most often, it becomes a daily routine, or even worse, a dangerously dependent habit, that causes emotional harm to be without, as clearly seen, in this clip of a very misguided parent, that even seems to find it funny. 🤯 And all during the most important developmental process us humans will ever experience - childhood - something we can never get back. 🫡 For much more important information and discussion points related to children and children's services, check out the following, and tag any others who are also raising the alarm and sharing valuable information too). Great post by NMT! How a free training resource boosts retention. The idea is to put staff in the drivers seat and empower them to facilitate change though research. Teacher-led research is a great idea, but difficult in practice (it's two jobs!). CREC has broken it down into simple templates and how-to videos. Here's the article with a link to the free resource. I’ve hired 1000+ people and I truly believe that the most underappreciated character trait in a new hire is 𝗰𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆. The type of person that actively seeks out new things to learn or teach themselves and doesn’t wait to be taught or told. The type of person that is so naturally curious about their industry or skill that it boarders on a hobby - they go home and self-educate, they follow people that talk about it and in their spare time they’re reading about it. The Froebel approach honours the child. It respects the child's play, because that is what interests them now. This video captures some of that slow pedagogy in action. Worth a watch.
