Innovating in complex systems is a challenging endeavor that requires a wide variety of ideas, skills, and methods - as well as personal tributes and competencies. Thus systems innovation must exist at the intersection of many different areas and disciplines. The paradigm we adopt and how we look at the world matters hugely. The current reductionist paradigm leads us down the pathway of looking at things in separation, as finite stocks that are being used unsustainably. A systems paradigm would start by looking at relationships - the way we are relating to the ecosystem and trying to transform the quality of that relationship.
