We're pleased to share significant news for our industry. The Association of British Investigators (ABI) has received official approval from the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) for its UK GDPR Code of Conduct tailored for investigative and litigation support services – the first sector-specific code of its kind.   This huge achievement wouldn't have been possible without the exceptional efforts of Tony Imossi, the ABI Secretariat and author of the Code. His vision and dedication over the past five years were instrumental in developing this comprehensive framework.   As members of the ABI, we at Conflict International recognise the importance of this accomplishment. The new Code addresses critical data protection challenges that private investigators face, providing clear guidance on responsibilities, data protection impact assessments, and lawful practices for activities like surveillance, background checks, and social media monitoring.   Our CEO and current ABI President, Mike LaCorte, shared his thoughts:   "This is a landmark moment for our profession. The approved Code of Conduct reflects our collective commitment to the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, and accountability. It offers a clear framework for responsible data handling, reinforcing the trust our clients place in us while respecting individual privacy rights.
