Would Christmas in London even feel like Christmas without Underbelly Limited? 🎄✨ From the villages in Leicester Square and Trafalgar Square to Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, their productions light up the city. A massive shout-out to our crew, who delivered thousands of hours of hard work, skills and spirit across London to make these celebrations happen. 💪 We’re proud to have partnered with Underbelly for a dozen years, helping bring their signature blend of live theatre and festivity to life. 🌍 It's Day 4 of People & Planet First Week! 🌍 We're out at #EventSustainabilityLive today, catching up with everyone and sharing our knowledge of driving sustainability through events. We're also a Social Enterprise UK member, and it's Social Enterprise Day today! So. we thought: what better time to give you more information about being a social enterprise!? 🤔 Because we're more than a multi-award-winning crewing company with 19 years under our belts! We're a type of social enterprise called a "Community Interest Company" (that's why you'll often see CIC at the end of our name) 🙌 Social Enterprise UK says: "Social enterprises are combining commercial success with real social and environmental impact [...] Many outperform other businesses when it comes to growth and product innovation, reducing inequalities, creating jobs and building a more inclusive economy. Our research shows that social enterprises are more representative of wider society than other businesses." 🙌 At Connection Crew, our mission is simple: To provide opportunities for people affected by homelessness or facing barriers to work, to access training, mentoring and work in our crew. Ultimately, our goal is to help end homelessness and reduce inequality by supporting people to access work that works for them in the long run. We believe that to do right for people, we need to do right by the planet. From mapping and reducing our carbon footprint and waste, embracing eco-friendly practices, to working with partners who share our commitment to sustainability, we’re committed to helping build a healthier planet for future generations. 🌍 Kicking off People and Planet First Week! 🌍 How best to do this? 🤔 Probably by sharing that we're People and Planet First Verified. 😎 What does this mean? People and Planet First is a verification and a global collective that’s accelerating the transition to an economy — one that puts people and the planet first. Through a network of trusted partners, they're transforming business and building an economy for everyone to thrive within the means of our living planet. Every enterprise with the People and Planet First verified badge holder solves social and/or environmental problems and reinvests the majority of profit for the many, not the few. Doing our part to reduce our impact on the environment, while boosting our social impact is so, so important. We're proud to be dual-accredited by Social Enterprise UK and People and Planet First. #PeopleAndPlanet #Sustainability #SocialSustainability #EnvironmentalSustainability #SocialEnterpriseUK

🌍 Introducing Sustainability in Action! 🌍 Connection Crew believes in making a real impact alongside our clients, and we’re thrilled to launch our new blog series by showcasing our partnership with Menier Venues. Menier Venues and Connection Crew bring a unique blend of sustainability and care to each event we work on together. Menier’s commitment to creating beautiful, sustainable spaces embedded in the community, and Connection Crew’s mission of supporting people affected by homelessness make this partnership truly special. “The positive ethos and values of the company create a good working environment, which translates to excellent service for us – which we also recommend to others.” — Sophie Stade Cohn, Managing Director at Menier Venues 💚 --- About the Sustainability in Action Series Our Sustainability in Action series is dedicated to exploring the impactful partnerships and practices that drive positive social and environmental change. Through these stories, we aim to inspire and educate, sharing how Connection Crew and our clients are setting new standards for sustainability in the events industry. Whether it’s through eco-friendly choices, supporting people affected by homelessness, reducing our carbon footprint, choosing sustainable materials, or reducing food and general waste, each step has the power to make a massive difference. Follow along as we highlight the people, projects, choices, and practices making a difference for people and planet. We’ll be breaking down the jargon, asking why carbon calculators give such varying answers, doing some general myth-busting, and being transparent about the things that leave even the most seasoned sustainability experts scratching their heads. #SocialSustainability #EnvironmentalSustainability #Sustainability #MenierVenues #ConnectionCrew #SocialEnterprise #SocialImpact #PeopleAndPlane

🎉 It’s Living Wage Week! 🎉 As a social enterprise and one of over 15,000 Living Wage Foundation accredited employers, we’re proud to be part of a movement that’s making a real difference across the UK. This year’s theme, A Step Beyond, celebrates those who’ve recently joined us on this journey. With 12.9% of UK employees still earning below the real Living Wage, it’s vital that more companies support initiatives that push for change. Fair wages are good for people, businesses, and society as a whole. Connection Crew is committed to paying the London Living Wage. Living Wage Week is an opportunity for us and fellow accredited employers to show why the Living Wage matters. A special thank you to the Living Wage Foundation and all the amazing businesses and individuals championing this cause, raising awareness and paving the way for a more sustainable, inclusive workforce across the UK. #LivingWageWeek #LondonLivingWage #SocialImpact #SocialEnterprise #AStepBeyond

At Connection Crew CIC, we believe that events have the power to create real social impact. Since 2005, we’ve championed training and employment for people affected by homelessness and facing barriers to work, collaborating with partners to help individuals to access opportunities, gain experience, and build paths to independence. By making socially responsible choices visible and accessible, event professionals can help audiences become more conscious of social sustainability (without preaching or getting lost in the jargon). As Charlotte Scotland likes to say: as recycling has become second nature in everyday life, so can making socially responsible choices. This is something she shared on a panel with James Hunter at Encore UK, and Gabrielle Austen-Browne at Diversity Alliance ®, moderated by Maeve Campbell, at the Sustainable Events Show last week. The panellists shared insights on the importance of social sustainability, including how small, intentional decisions - like working with companies accredited with Social Enterprise UK, Living Wage Foundation, and B Lab UK (amongst others) - create ripples of change. When socially sustainable practices become embedded in events, they help people become more discerning and aware, reinforcing that the experience itself can have lasting, positive effects. And, if you don't know how to get started, you know where we are 😉. By working with one company focused on social sustainability, you'll open yourself up to them all. Her example was as simple as looking at your tea, coffee, and biscuits for an afternoon event, shouting out NEMI Teas, Change Please coffee, and Half the Story biscuits. #SocialResponsibility #SocialImpact #SocialEnterprises #BusinessForGood
