Many people will spend tonight in a shop doorway, a tent, or even their car. Inspired by John Bird's article in the current Big Issue. It reinforces Connection Support's strategy of preventing homelessness and not solely dealing with the crises and emergencies once people are already homeless. "Unless we accept that we are spending money on the effect and not on finding ways of preventing then we will have a more troubled society". Only three weeks to go! No doubt there will be a huge buzz in the room on 13th December as Raise'24 unites leading Oxfordshire businesses with leading Oxfordshire charities to achieve incredible social impact. We're delighted to be one of those charities that will receive a portion of the total raised - a huge thank you to everyone who has donated or fundraised so far! Any amount of money will make a huge difference to the clients we support every day.

A huge thank you to the brilliant ndapt team for organising today's sponsored walk for Connection Support. We were delighted that so many companies could join despite the bracing weather ❄. Whilst we all have warm homes to go back to, not everyone is so fortunate. Too many people will be sleeping in a shop doorway, tent or their car tonight. With support from generous companies like those that took part today, we aim to make rough sleeping as short-lived as possible and ensure that everyone has a safe place to call home. Thank you all you wonderful people 🙏

Nancy Purle and I were delighted to join giveback's event today in aid of Connection Support. It was a great opportunity to hear more about the really important work that this charity does in the fight against homelessness. As a bonus, we got to spend some time in the fresh air with some lovely people and get a great view of London from the top of Primrose Hill. Thanks to Sarah Leslie and the team for organising the event!

David had spent all his money on toy tractors and had found himself in arrears facing eviction. It was certainly a strange circumstance, and the referral documents didn’t provide further insight, so our team headed to his property to find out more. David was strikingly thin. He had one bag of pasta in his cupboards, but a collection of 250 toy tractors. Ben felt that this was his last chance to gain a better life, he was tired of misusing substances and going around in circles after being dismissed by addiction rehabilitation for his history of relapsing. Luckily, our One Recovery Bucks Support Worker, Patricia, took a chance on Ben, as he was determined to prove everyone wrong and start on the road to independence.
