We're delighted to share that we had the privilege of attending Sense Scotland's Masquerade Ball on Saturday 16th November 2024 at the stunning Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. It was an amazing evening of celebration and generosity as Scottish businesses and private supporters gathered to show their support for this incredible charity. CSS was proud to sponsor this wonderful Sense Scotland event, and being part of their mission to provide life-changing support for people with complex disabilities and their families is very important to us. We'd like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended, donated and took part in the online auction. 🌟 Huge shoutout to Ian McGarry and Carly Sandhu from CSS for taking on The Kiltwalk in Edinburgh in honour of their uncle Brian. Together with their family, and with a donation from CSS, they raised over a thousand pounds for Quarriers, supporting the incredible William Quarrier Epilepsy Centre, where Brian spent his last days in the compassionate care of an exceptional team. Thank you, Ian, Carly and family for your dedication. Your efforts are a meaningful tribute to Brian, helping Quarriers provide essential support to those in need. In support of Michael's ambition, CSS is honoured to donate £1,000 to help him reach his fundraising target of £10,000 for It's Good 2 Give, a charity that provides critical support to young cancer patients and their families. We wish Michael all the best as he embarks on this Arctic adventure and look forward to cheering him on every step of the way. 💪
On the 6th of February 2025, I will be setting off from Rovaniemi in Finland, braving temperatures of -35°C, for three days on a 70km trek across the Arctic for children’s cancer charity It's Good 2 Give. It’s Good 2 Give is a charity which supports young cancer patients and their families. It also runs the Ripple Retreat, a residential respite centre on the banks of Loch Venachar in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs national park. I am aiming to raise £10,000 for the charity by taking on this gruelling challenge, during which I will pull my own gear in a pulk (sled) and sleep – in tents! – in temperatures as low as -35°C. In preparation for the challenge, I have been undertaking a tough regime of endurance and strength training, including trekking on sand on some windy Scottish beaches. To acclimatise for the extremes of temperature, I recently visited CryoLabs in Glasgow to spend time in its cold chamber – in temperatures of -130°C. If you can help me reach my target and ultimately support the work of the charity this will be greatly appreciated. However, please do not feel under any pressure, and I understand you may already have existing charitable commitments, but I also hope you’ll understand what I’m trying to do and will feel able to contribute. I’m delighted to inform you that CGH has completed the acquisition of my dear friend Harry Meldrum’s Fife based Security & Fire Systems ( Scotland ) Limited t/a Scottish Fire & Security. Harry has led the business for thirty two years as an NSI Gold & BAFE accredited firm. Harry has been undergoing treatment for a longterm illness that has resulted in his decision to entrust his family business with ours. Harry will continue to be involved in a part time capacity as his treatment dictates. All the staff and the Fife HQ of Scottish will be retained and additional resources will be recruited. Derek Kane will continue to lead the day to day operations and continue his twenty eight year service . This latest addition to the group enables the front line service response of both CSS and Scottish to be collectively enhanced . We will utilise the engineer resources to deliver our services across Fife/Dundee/Edinburgh. Thanks to Harper Macleod & JCCA , Rollos Solicitors as well as Harry & Norma Meldrum in getting us over the line for what promises to be an exiting time for all concerend.

Here is a well kent face within the Scottish Fire & Security arena. Gavin Bell, a true (in every sense of the word ) industry veteran of 37 years under his belt. In a year where we have seen five longterm employees retire , having Gavin join us to head up our Fire division across the group is a great fit for our employees and client base. Having been a friend, business competitor, and me extracting bets payable by him on the golf course , We are delighted he’s on board to share his wisdom and experience. As part of our businesses succession planning , there has been many promotions internally within the group that will enable the old guard to support the new guard in a phased change at the top over the next year or so. The second generation of CSS people is well under way.
