Constructing Excellence Manchester is a forum for individuals to learn about the principles of Best Practice, while creating a culture and local support network of continuous improvement. It offers the opportunity for an informal group of forward thinking, innovative people to learn from each other share that knowledge, ultimately improve their business bottom-line. Constructing Excellence Manchester has been successfully promoting ‘Constructing Excellence’ principles for over 10 years with the primary aim of collectively raising the efficiency, effectiveness and sustainability of the regions construction service providers and clients. This club is ‘not-for-profit’ and has no paid employees. It is run by passionate committed professionals and the events we organize are paid for with membership fees, and on occasion by sponsorship and non-member entry fees. Earlier this month, Constructing Excellence Manchester members had the privilege of touring North View, a groundbreaking all-electric adult mental health inpatient unit on the North Manchester Hospital site. This £105.9 million facility, managed by GMMH, represents a cornerstone in the broader regeneration plans for North Manchester General Hospital. North View has been purposefully designed with mental health and well-being at its core. Built to the latest environmental standards, the facility provides a therapeutic and modern environment that prioritizes the holistic integration of physical and mental wellness for both patients and staff. The design reflects extensive input from service users and incorporates thoughtful, data-informed safety features aimed at minimizing incidents—ensuring a space that supports dignity, comfort, and healing. We were guided by North View Project Director Marc Reed MRICS (GMMH), Qasim Ramzan MCIOB MAPM (Day Project Management), and Kevin Hilton (Gilling Dod Architects), who shared the detailed process behind creating a facility that not only meets the highest standards of care but also anticipates the evolving needs of the service users.
