  • 6 Signs You May Benefit from Therapy. 1. Your conversations with yourself and others take you further away from where you want to be, not closer: If your self-talk or interactions with others often leave you feeling more lost or stuck, therapy can help shift these patterns towards something more constructive and align with your goals. 2. Life has become a perpetual mystery that you can't make sense of no matter what you try: When life feels like an unsolvable puzzle, and nothing seems to add up, therapy can provide the clarity and understanding needed to make sense of your experiences and find a path forward. 3. You keep going over cliff edges you see in advance, doing more damage each time you fall: If you recognise harmful patterns but can't seem to stop them, therapy can help you understand why this keeps happening and support you in making the changes needed to step back from the edge. 4. When your reality keeps glitching, suggesting it might be a fantasy you need to let go of: If your view of the world feels unstable or out of sync with your experiences, therapy can help you distinguish between helpful and unhelpful perspectives, grounding you in a more consistent and supportive reality. 5. The Goldilocks Principle of Challenge – not too little, not too much, but just the right amount – is working against, not for you: Struggling to find the right balance and constantly feeling either overwhelmed or underwhelmed? Therapy can help you navigate this imbalance and find your optimum level of challenge. 6. When the distance to your desired destination keeps increasing: If your goals feel more distant no matter how hard you try, therapy can help you reassess your approach, identify what's holding you back, and guide you towards strategies that put you on the right journey. • Here are 3 coping strategies to keep you afloat during the cold months. Light Therapy: Exposure to natural sunlight or using a light therapy box can help regulate your mood and improve energy levels. Try to spend time outdoors during daylight hours or sit near windows to maximise sunlight exposure. Stay Active: Regular exercise can boost your mood by increasing serotonin and endorphin levels. Even a daily walk or indoor workout can make a big difference in reducing feelings of depression. Establish a Routine: Sticking to a consistent daily routine, including regular sleep patterns and self-care activities, can provide structure and help combat the lethargy and mood swings that often come with seasonal depression. • 6 Signs You May Benefit from Coaching: 1. Important people at home or work can't or won't give you the conversations you need: When you're not getting the feedback or support you need, coaching offers a space to explore your thoughts, gain insights, and develop strategies to improve your personal and professional interactions. 2. Life has become a vicious cycle of misdiagnosed problems your responses make worse: If you're stuck in a loop of misidentifying issues and making things worse with your responses, coaching can help you pinpoint the real difficulties and guide you toward more effective actions. 3. Past, unhelpful patterns of thought, behaviour, feeling, and relating (to people, places, and ‘stuff') keep being woven into your present: Coaching can help you break free from these recurring patterns and adopt new, more constructive approaches that better serve your current goals. 4. You are sticking with Plan A in a world now operating on Plan B: In a rapidly changing world, holding onto outdated plans can keep you stuck. Coaching can help you adapt and create flexible strategies that align with today's realities and your evolving aspirations. 5. Challenge has switched sides and become your enemy, not friend: If challenges that once motivated you now feel like barriers, coaching can help you reframe them as opportunities for growth and turn the tide back in your favour. 6. Your journey is the wrong one for your desired destination: If your current path doesn't align with your desired destination, coaching can help you realign your direction and ensure your actions are taking you closer to your true goals. 7. Recognising these signs is a crucial step towards change. Coaching provides the support, challenge, accountability and strategies you need to get your personal growth and professional development back on track. • For those who identify as night owls, the typical workday can present significant challenges. When your natural energy and alertness peak later in the day, early mornings can feel overwhelming, often resulting in fatigue and reduced focus. This exhaustion may lead to a common experience—clock-watching—where you find yourself anxiously awaiting the end of the workday, struggling to remain engaged due to persistent tiredness. The misalignment between your natural circadian rhythm and standard working hours can negatively affect your productivity. Instead of being fully present and efficient, you may spend much of the day battling drowsiness, which hampers your ability to focus and complete tasks effectively. For night owls, shifting your working hours to better match your peak productivity can significantly enhance your performance. If you are most alert and focused in the afternoon or evening, starting your workday later may allow you to harness your optimal energy levels, enabling you to work more efficiently and with greater focus. By aligning your work schedule with your natural rhythm, you can reduce feelings of exhaustion, increase productivity, and eliminate the tendency to clock-watch, ultimately improving both your work experience and overall well-being. • Are you trying to fix a puncture without removing the nail? Burnout often happens when we address only the symptoms, not the root causes. As my client Gary realised, "avoiding burnout was like fixing a puncture without removing the nail." He learned that his reluctance to ask for help was fuelling his stress. Burnout isn't just about working too hard; it's about internal and external pressures, like an inability to delegate or seek support. These hidden causes are the nails we need to pull out to break the cycle. Join my workshop next week to learn how my IMPACT Model uncovers stressors and provides actionable steps. Discover tools like the Challenge Audit to balance demands and resources, helping you build resilience and prevent burnout. 📆 Date: 12/11/2025, 10-11:30am ⏰ Location: The Dock, 75 Exploration Drive, Leicester LE4 5NU, United Kingdom Sign up today alongside leaders from various industries and start thriving, not just surviving, in your work life. • The Goldilocks Principle of Challenge: Finding Your "Just Right" Ever feel overwhelmed or stuck in a rut? You might be facing either too little or too much challenge in your life. The Goldilocks Principle teaches us that the sweet spot—where challenge feels just right—lies somewhere in between. Here are three ways to find it: 1) Map Out Your Life: Challenge often reflects how well we understand our situation. Feeling unbalanced often comes from not fully grasping the challenges you're facing. Set aside time to reflect on both your personal and professional life. Identify what's driving your stress, low mood, or frustration. By pinpointing the root causes, you can start to see what needs adjusting. 2) Shift Your Identity and Behaviour: Challenges mirror who we are and what we do. Ask yourself: Who do you need to be to handle your challenges effectively? More proactive? More resilient? Aligning your identity with the actions required—whether that's planning, setting boundaries, or seeking guidance—can help you engage with challenges in a way that feels manageable and meaningful. 3) Build Your Resources: The right level of challenge depends on what you have at your disposal. Balancing challenges isn't about avoiding them but equipping yourself better. Invest in building your internal and external resources—like boosting your confidence, expanding your skills, or strengthening your support network. The more resources you have, the easier it becomes to find your "just right." Remember, finding balance is a process of trial and error, just like Goldilocks with her porridge. Adjust, refine, and keep moving forward. Over time, you'll discover that sweet spot where challenges feel not too little, not too much, but just right.

  • The most critical thing clients, coaches, and therapists need to understand is that what brings them together is a client's existing conversations - those with themselves and their existing support network and that they are not making the difference they are after. If they were, talking to a coach or therapist would be redundant. Coaches and therapists must work with their clients to create a conversation that is unique and cannot be replicated with anyone else. This uniqueness is the essence of effective coaching and therapy. Therefore, a hallmark of ineffective coaching and therapy is when the conversations are too similar to those the client is already having. Clients often do not realise that their issues stem from the nature of their existing conversations, or if they do, they have no way of finding out or fixing what is missing. As a result, they remain unable to address their problems effectively. Coaches and therapists must educate clients about the significant role that conversations play. They must help clients understand how their current conversations are insufficient and guide them towards having those that are - Conversations With Impact. Conversations with impact provide the qualities clients need, such as trust, validation, understanding, accountability, and challenge. When these elements are present, effective coaching and therapy can create the magic clients often feel when they finally experience a conversation that makes the difference they are after in their personal or professional lives.
