  • In the first of a new series of blog posts, we're putting the spotlight on the Copilot team - who we are, how we work, our investment approach and what makes us tick.   First up is Kitarack Chapman, globetrotter, tech enthusiast, and one of our earliest hires. Kitarack is a seasoned software investor who grew up Laos, studied in the United States, and moved to London to start his investment career, despite not knowing anyone in the city. He's been here ever since.    Kitarack's secret to software investment opportunity spotting: "Coffee meetings are where some of the most exciting conversations happen. That’s how we find those hidden gems.”    👉 If you're curious to learn more about Kitarack's journey, read the full post below.

✈️ 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝’𝐬 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭 ✈️ This week, I travelled to Poland with Zerxis Billimoria to explore its emerging software ecosystem – a visit inspired by a recommendation from our VC friends. Poland’s tech sector is on the rise, and after diving deeper into the market, it’s clear why this region is gaining attention. 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝’𝐬 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬: 📈 𝐆𝐃𝐏 𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐚𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚 is rapidly converging with Western European countries, now at $𝟐𝟑,𝟓𝟔𝟑. 🌍 Significant 𝐄𝐔 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 is flowing into decarbonisation and digital transformation, with €𝟐𝟎 𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐯𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 through the Modernisation Fund by 2030. 🚀 The economy is projected to grow by 𝟑.𝟎% 𝐢𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 and 𝟑.𝟔% 𝐢𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓, despite broader European macroeconomic challenges. 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐚𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐩: 1️⃣ 𝐒𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝟏𝟎% 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡 𝐬𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐞 – with IT services still dominating, but the tide is shifting. 2️⃣ 𝐀 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦 𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 – driven by a new wave of SaaS entrepreneurs and a maturing group of bankers who know how to structure and sell software businesses. 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝’𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐭. The combination of economic momentum, EU investment, and local talent is creating a fertile ground for growth. At Copilot Capital, we’re eager to see how this market evolves and look forward to engaging with companies and entrepreneurs in the region.
