As I wrap up my internship at Cordon Technologies, I want to take a moment to thank the amazing team for such a rewarding journey. A special shoutout to my managers and supervisors, Jamie Hutchinson, Annelise Brbora, and Dr. Pedro Martinez-Castro for their guidance, support, and mentorship throughout my time as an Aerodynamicist Intern. During my internship, I had the opportunity to dive deep into experimental testing, CFD analysis, and gain invaluable workshop experience. These hands-on experiences have greatly expanded my technical skills and understanding of how aerodynamics can make an impact in the agritech industry. I'm incredibly grateful to have worked with such a talented and innovative team. Really insightful post here on how to manage the inherent variability found in any vineyard site. Food for thought.
How is vineyard management like poker? Like in poker, you have to play the hand you’re dealt in the field and with the season. It’s a high stakes game, with only one chance a year to get it right. There are limited cards available in the vineyard managers hand, and knowing how best to play them is the goal. The worst hand can be a winner if played right, and conversely, the best hand can be a loser. It’s very challenging to try and play the game without knowing your cards, and there are tools out there for the average grower with modest means to better understand, and thus manage, their site. NDVI maps are such a tool. Knowing the variation across a block allows for better decisions to be made to optimally manage the vineyard.
