We know there’s often a lot of red tape internally that can make working with patients seem daunting, but open communication and careful planning can streamline these processes. Here are some key areas to focus on if compliance is a barrier in your organisation: 1. Early internal discussions: Engage with compliance teams early on in projects and clearly communicate your rationale for patient involvement to find compliant solutions. 2. Education: Use worked examples to demonstrate opportunities for, and value of, compliant patient engagement within your organisation. 3. Update internal policies: Align with the latest guidance. Often, internal barriers, not public guidelines, are stopping people from working with patients. Be bold and advocate for change!
