The UK Chapter of The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat
About us
The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) is the world’s leading nonprofit organization for all those interested in the future of cities. It explores how increased urban density and vertical growth can support more sustainable and healthy cities, especially in the face of mass urbanization and the increasing effects of climate change worldwide. The relationship between policy, buildings, people, urban density, urban space, interior space, and infrastructure is key. The UK chapter takes ownership of the future by developing a network of peers externally and internally to collectively expand everyone’s industry knowledge base. Both the Committee and FL members are exposed to networking opportunities, communication skills training, job tours, first hand career perspectives and leadership training

In the first CTBUH Charity Cycle Challenge, this event was a huge success and left a lasting impact on a wonderful cause! Following the CTBUH 2024 International Conference, 15 adventurous riders embarked on 27 September on a four-day journey from Paris back to London, covering 450 kilometers and 4,000 meters of elevation, all in support of Bayley House—a remarkable organization that empowers people with intellectual disabilities to live full and rewarding lives. This incredible journey went through picturesque landscapes and charming towns, offering a unique blend of exhilarating activity and breathtaking views. The ride, fully supported by Club Peloton, was kindly sponsored by Getjar , Associated Stone Group Ltd , Dornan , Multiplex , and O’Neill & Brennan UK . Thank you to everyone who attended, cheered our riders on, and contributed—we couldn't have done it without you. With an incredible £16,601 raised, this will have a meaningful impact on Bayley House and the people they support.

Last year, we issued a survey to members that asked the big questions: What long term impact will COVID-19 have on our cities, and how do we design, or indeed redesign, the buildings that punctuate our skylines? Now, we’re reaching out again to gather your latest insights and perspectives. By completing this short survey, you’ll help us track how the industry is adapting, and contribute to shaping the way we design and evolve our urban environments. 👉 Share your current approach to hybrid working here: https://lnkd.in/eBk6xWgg

100 Bishopsgate! A brilliant evening touring the 40 storey tower in the heart of the City. The building provides 995,000 sqft of lettable area, panoramic views of London and spacious public amenity at ground level. A huge thank you to Jo Bacon and Pragya Adukia for leading the tour. Also special thanks to Earle Arney for his support in making this happen. It was fascinating to hear about the timeline of the project as it navigated through significant economic and political events, whilst still breaking the record for the most space ever pre-let in the City. The tour was organised by Hugo Viner and the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) - UK Chapter Future Leaders Committee. More exciting building tours are being planned so watch this space! #CTBUH #UKChapter #TallBuildings #100Bishopsgate #VerticalUrbanism Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH)

𝗘𝗹𝗲𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗨𝗞 𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗻𝗼𝘄! Glad to see that one of my photos made the front cover. In a way it is not surprising, as the views from Lift109 at Battersea Power Station over London are amazing. It was very interesting to spend some time up there, while seeing some great sketches being drawn of the London skyline. Also featured in this issue is a fascinating conversation I had with Samu Salmelin, KONE’s Head of Major Projects in Great Britain. Samu talks about vertical transportation trends and sustainability. I also cover an interesting evening conference hosted by the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) - UK Chapter about “Adaptive Reuse in Tall Buildings”.
