🎅 🎄 Christmas Jumper Day 2024 🎄 🎅 The team in the CQMS office are getting in the Christmas spirit with their festive jumpers whilst also raising money for Save the Children International!

🚩 It’s not just high-risk trades that need to understand the dangers of asbestos.🚩 As more businesses are making 2025 plans for building and construction work, this is topical! While builders, plumbers, electricians, and other high-risk trades who are likely to disturb asbestos during their normal day-to-day work are legally required to complete asbestos awareness training, they’re not the only ones at risk. Asbestos, despite being banned for over 20 years, still claims around 5,000 lives annually, making it the leading cause of work-related deaths. Disturbing asbestos during renovation, maintenance, or demolition projects can release harmful fibres that pose a serious health risk to anyone in the vicinity. This is why building and maintenance managers should also undertake asbestos training. Their role often involves overseeing work where asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) may be present, and they need to: ✅ Identify and manage risks on-site. ✅ Ensure safe practices for teams and contractors. ✅ Comply with legal requirements like the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. Understanding the dangers of asbestos isn’t just about ticking a compliance box - it’s about saving lives and protecting everyone who sets foot on site.
