Under the Bridge - shout out to the team and our contractors; CR Reynolds Ltd, for bringing the critical repairs on the Centenary Way Bridge to a conclusion… a whopping 9 weeks ahead of programme. This achievement is a true testament to the focus and drive of everyone involved! If all goes to plan, the A630 between Iccles Roundabout and New York Junction will be fully re-opened on 10th November. There will be several night closures from the 4th November to allow us to lay a brand new road surface, lining and repair the central island of Iccles Roundabout. I am sure that this will be very welcome news to many of our residents and businesses who have been caught in these works since the summer. I appreciate their pataince as we strive to maintain our assets and manage the disruption caused by these repair schedules. Here are some photos of the works last week - final brush finish on the trief kerbs on Centenary Way

CR Reynolds Limited’s work on the Foregill Bridge project for our valued client, North Yorkshire Council, is progressing well. We have now completed the construction of the temporary road which links the carriageway at both sides of the bridge. This temporary road is now open to the public, providing a safe and uninterrupted diversion route for traffic whilst our work to carefully demolish and rebuild the existing bridge structure continues.

New city car park paves the way for charitable donations 😍 Local community charities based across Wearside have benefitted from a plethora of donations given out by a civil engineering contractor helping to redevelop Sunderland city centre. Organisations including More Than Grandparents, Veterans in Crisis, Grace House North East, Blandford Street Community Project and Fighting All Cancers Together (FACT) have collectively received more than £6,000 from East Riding of Yorkshire-based, CR Reynolds, which following the company's work to improve pedestrian and landscaped areas around the Station project, is currently transforming land in Holmeside into a new multi-purpose car park. Funded by the Government's Transforming Cities Fund which aims to improve productivity by investing in public and sustainable transport infrastructure, the 4,800 m2 site is close to completion and will serve Sunderland's new train station and transport hub as well as provide additional capacity for commuters and those visiting the city centre. It will provide space for 196 vehicles as well as EV charging points, a mobility hub and secure cycle storage facilities, and is part of the Council's ongoing regeneration and investment programme. The car park is also included in the Council's 'Free After 3' initiative offering free parking after 3pm (Monday-Friday) to support city centre businesses and amenities.
