📍 Project Spotlight: The Forge, Newham (2018) At Crystal Units, we’re proud to have been part of the innovative Forge project in Newham, where we helped overcome a significant design challenge. ✨ Challenge: The architects specified triple-glazed U-values, but the chosen SAPA system could only accommodate a maximum unit thickness of 36mm. 💡 Solution: Our C.U.IN glazing provided the ideal solution. 🌍 Revolutionising Heritage with Sustainability at Wolfson College, Oxford 🌍 Max Fordham is thrilled to have been part of the UK's first decarbonisation project of its kind – bringing Oxford’s iconic, Grade II-listed Wolfson College closer to net zero carbon emissions. In collaboration with Wolfson College and Original Field Architecture, our team tackled the unique challenge of transforming these brutalist buildings, designed in the 1970s, into an eco-friendly masterpiece. 🏆 Highlights of Our Approach: Reduced annual heat loss by an impressive 80%. Leveraged one of the UK’s largest CO₂ heat pump systems for sustainable space heating. Preserved heritage aesthetics with Cuin glass, retaining original sightlines while enhancing thermal performance. Achieved a 100% reduction in operational carbon emissions through 100% renewable energy sourcing. This ambitious project sets a new standard for sustainable refurbishment in historically significant buildings.
