This new monopile design combines fixed and floating platform technology to allow for installation in waters up to 100 metres deep. The new design improves the stability of the monopile and should enable the development of more wind energy projects in deeper waters further offshore. 👏 This is good news for UK offshore wind as Montrose Port Authority (MPA) acquires additional land to almost double the size of its site from 59 acres to 104 acres. This strategic new investment will support the development of Scottish offshore wind, with the port already supporting operations and maintenance work at Seagreen and the under-development Inch Cape offshore site. A new fixed-bottom offshore wind turbine design could enable development in areas affected by earthquakes. This new 'flexible tripile' creates a flexible structure that allows the entire turbine to sway slowly during a tectonic disturbance. Early testing has proven that the design would reduce vibrations in the event of an earthquake compared to conventional fixed-bottom turbine designs. First turbine installed at Revolution Wind in US 🎉 The first of 65 turbines is now in place at the East Coast offshore wind farm, and with three-quarters of the foundations also in place, cable installation is due to commence imminently at the site. The terminal will host turbine construction and staging activities for our proposed project, Vineyard Wind 2, creating jobs, ensuring employment through 2031, and spurring the same community benefits experienced in New Bedford, home of the state's first #offshorewind port. 🌊 Salem will be a crucial hub for our ongoing efforts to deliver clean energy to New England.
