In a recent Environmental Business Review APAC article, Matthew Carlisle, Sustainability Associate Director, shared his insights on the benefits of hybrid cooling, its adaptability across Asia, and why we are fans of this approach. Hybrid cooling combines traditional air conditioning with fans, enabling higher temperature set points and significant energy savings. It enhances comfort, reduces operational costs, and extends the lifespan of HVAC systems. As we pursue net zero carbon in the built environment, adopting hybrid cooling can play a vital role in our decarbonisation efforts. Read more about why we’re fans of this effective strategy! https://lnkd.in/gDGK3t-H #HybridCooling #SustainableDesign #HVAC #NetZeroCarbon #APAC #AirConditioning #Sustainability #EnergySavings

Barton Park, Banksia (Bidjigal Country) has been transformed from an old sporting field into Bayside Council (NSW)’s largest community sporting and recreational hub. All floodlights were designed to significantly reduce upward light spill benefitting neighbouring residents, the CASA Regulations and the local wildlife. Projectors were used to illuminate the stadium, highlighting its structure and contours, while safety by design principles ensured that users feel safe within the park. Bollards along pathways and solar light poles were installed to enhance pedestrian access and sustainability. As #Movember comes to a close, our Singapore team has done it again and raised over $1300 in support of men’s health. The team not only sporting a new look with their Mustaches, but have been driving awareness for men’s health issues. Starting important conversations and supporting each other by sharing stories and raising money to support this vital cause. A special shout out to Joanna Goh who did a made-to-order cake sale (to ensure there was no food waste!) and donated all proceeds to Movember. Let’s keep the conversation going and help change the face of men’s health! #MentalHealth #Wellbeing #SelfCare #HealthMatters

What if we could predict a building’s energy performance in seconds, saving time and making smarter design choices right from the beginning? Our latest blog explores the exciting potential of parametric modeling and machine learning to accelerate early design decisions. By training models on vast data sets, we’ve taken the first steps towards creating tools that can predict energy efficiency almost instantaneously. These innovative methods underscore the need for collaborative efforts and data-driven approaches to create buildings that are adaptable, efficient, and resilient. As the authors highlight, “To make meaningful strides towards carbon neutrality and comply with increasingly stringent EU standards, we need to look beyond simple fixes and instead turn to powerful, data-driven tools.” Discover how these advancements are shaping the future of sustainable design.
