The latest MIA Insights from the Meetings Industry Association survey reveals that industry optimism is increasing, with 74% confident in the sector's future. Today, Custard turns 17. I had a think this morning on a walk to the coffee shop about what 17 stands for and what clever post I could compose. 17 years for an anniversary means furniture - so something about design, standing still, changing, being comfortable? Not sure. But then I thought of the three words every 17 year old knows (or most do anyway). Mirror, signal, manoeuvre. That first driving lesson has many great memories for me as it was the beginning of being able to get from A to B on my own and fast! If I apply those three words to running a business, they certainly seems apt. Mirror: Not a fan of looking behind, I still think it's important to see what's coming up fast in the mirror - who is behind you and about to overtake? What did you leave behind? Where have you been? Signal: Critical internally. It's vital to ensure the people you work with know exactly what you are doing and what you are planning, otherwise how will they know how to support you and assist in the navigation? Manoeuvre: Let's go! Just make sure you have mapped out your route and know the best way to get there. Go forward, go towards your goal and don't stall!! Thanks team Custard for always being great co-pilots and for getting us from A to B every single day.
