As proud members of the town planning community, we’re excited to keep driving our projects forward to support the delivery of sustainable and plan-led growth. Check out some of our recent highlights:   ✅ Green Belt Reviews: We are working to produce a #GreenBelt Review which responds to the emerging ‘new’ requirements of the #NPPF – including identification of ‘grey belt’. ✅ Infrastructure Delivery Plans: We are currently working to produce five #InfrastructureDeliveryPlans across the country to establish infrastructure requirements to support growth. ✅ Strategic Planning: We are providing support to three local planning authorities in planning effectively across boundaries to meet the Duty to Cooperate. ✅ Community Infrastructure Levy: We are supporting three Councils to introduce #CIL which will help them secure much needed funding to support infrastructure delivery. #DACPlanning #WTPD2024

CIL in Two-Tier Authorities... I thoroughly enjoyed attending the Waterfront Conference Company CIL and S106 Masterclass yesterday.  Thank you to all the brilliant speakers from whom I learnt so much, and organisers Maxine Newton and Rebecca Ives-Rose. It was a pleasure to present at the event, on the topic of “CIL in Two-Tier Authorities”.  Whether perceived or real, there are a multitude of barriers which can restrict the effective flow of CIL receipts between the two tiers in order to achieve the main goal: infrastructure delivery to support planned growth. In my presentation, I explored these barriers, and ways that they may be overcome through education, communication and standardisation within and across the administrative tiers. I also used a case study focusing on the work that #dacplanning are undertaking with Essex County Council to increase CIL coverage across the county - recognising the benefit of CIL through a county council lens. As a result of this work, CIL charging authority coverage in the county has risen to 30% in 2024, with the aim of increasing coverage to 50% by 2025/26. On World Town Planning Day, I am feeling proud to be a part of Sussex Women Planners. The group gives the opportunity for women planners from the public and private sector to meet, share knowledge and experience, and be inspired by speakers from the planning profession. We are pleased to share that Sweta Soren is joining the DAC Planning team as our Planning Intern! She recently completed her MSc in Global Urban Development and Planning from The University of Manchester. Her role involves supporting the team with GIS mapping, research, and developing planning documents. She's passionate about creating sustainable and inclusive urban spaces, with a focus on participatory planning to inspire positive change in urban environments. #DACPlanning

The DAC Planning Team was thrilled to be part of the careers fair at St. Benedict’s Catholic College in Colchester on 9th October.   Throughout the day, we spoke with hundreds of enthusiastic students from Years 7 to 11, aiming to inspire the future generation of town planners! A big thank you to the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) for its support in helping us prepare for the event.   The definite highlight was asking the students to capture on post-its "What makes a good place?"
