Our mini podcast with the longevity think tank #PhoenixInsights pairs 2-3 part-time workers together, for in-depth, nitty gritty discussions about how they make their jobs work, part-time.
In #PartTimeWorks, 11 people, working in very different jobs, and part-time for all manner of reasons, discuss their lives, careers and barriers - and share the things that have unlocked them. 🗝
Episode 1 explores what's it like to be a modern part-time worker. What's changing, how you empower your teams and what happens - when life happens. This #CarersWeek, 2 of our amazing guests are also parent-carers. Meet:
⭐ Alex Kihurani, a Senior Risk Manager at EY and a successful rally car driver, based in London. Alex has always worked part-time to balance these two sides of himself. He talks about building the skills & experiences of more junior colleagues, ‘reaching while you climb’ style and about the support around him. Alex has a newer, very important reason to work part-time, too: he's a dad. 21 months ago he had a beautiful little girl, who was born with hydrocephalus and has experienced a couple of neurological complications since. He and his wife both work part-time. Listen to Alex talking to…
⭐... Sharon Foxwell & Jo Holdom, based in Devon. 12 years ago, super star PRs Jo & Sharon persuaded a former boss to try them out as a job share. They have been going from strength to strength ever since, putting their success down to incredible organisation and a simple admin hack. Jo & Sharon are a vital cog at agency One Voice Media, which has 10 members of staff. Both Jo and Sharon have kids and one of Sharon’s daughters has a disability. Sharon says work itself is a crucial part of the support she needs as a parent-carer, and helps create a core sense of self and identity outside of medical settings. Her husband works flexibly too.
Listen to Jo, Sharon and Alex discuss their families, lives and work, here. Because part-time, matters: https://lnkd.in/eWY4CeSC
