✨ What a wonderful day of learning and meeting colleagues! ✨ Yesterday I spent the day at the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Public Sector day in London. I got to meet some of my local gov AI connections in person including Sarah Peña, Adrian Hanley, Nic Streatfeild, Adam D. and Kris Burtwistle. I was keen to learn more about the different AI models Amazon have, and it was really interesting hearing about the various guardrails that can be put in place too. And I loved the statement ‘innovation is the spark, transformation is the flame’ This really resonated as it’s vital that we utilise the innovations we have access to, to enable transformation. Some highlights are: 👉 A bank of case studies of how and where AI is being deployed in councils currently including children's social care, family support hubs, and developing easy read documents. We have 19 case studies live with 18 more in the pipeline! https://lnkd.in/eGjyUH7M 👉 Our Technology Innovation Showcase supporting local government's role in fostering the AI SME market, and facilitating trusted buying of new technologies to meet LG challenges. 👉 A 'State of the Sector' survey on AI which assessed currently levels of deployment, readiness and risks in Local Government. AI deployment moves quickly so we're currently updating the results - get in touch if you work in a council and want to contribute. 👉 7 (!) consultation responses and parliamentary inquiry submissions on the use of AI across local government to ensure that council priorities and needs are shaping national policy development. TLDR: lots of innovation happening, local government needs to support to build on that innovation, public trust is key, and more coherence and coordination between departments and regulators please!
