Updates

  • Merry Christmas from Dawson Radford!! This year, our team has reflected on what has been a challlenging year for many of us. In lieu of corporate gifts and cards we have decided to make a donation to our local foodbank, New Hope, in Killamarsh. During the pandemic some of our team volunteered and operated a local foodbank delivering emergency supplies of food and toiletries to local residents. What we realised, very quickly, is that absolutely anyone can find themselves in need of help. A relationship breakdown, a death, illness, or loss of a job can very quickly be the difference between getting by and having nothing. Often people will feel ashamed or embarrassed to seek help so when they eventually do, their situation is urgent and critical. We wanted to thank New Hope for the great work they do in our area, and make this donation on behalf of our clients, colleagues and contacts. We wish you a happy and peaceful Christmas and New Year. Jo, and the DR team x

  • When you decide to sell your company, the first step in the sale process is due diligence. This phase is often the most challenging as it requires some serious effort on your part. It typically involves responding to a comprehensive questionnaire provided by the buyer's solicitors. Due diligence generally takes three forms: Understanding Your Business This involves the buyer asking a series of questions about how your business operates, including its trading history, customers, suppliers, employees, and insurance. The aim is to gain a full understanding of the company and what it does. Assessing the Property The buyer will inquire about the condition of the building, planning history, boundaries, risk assessments, asbestos, and more. This process is designed to identify any potential issues that the buyer may need to address. Reviewing the Finances It's essential to involve your accountant in providing answers to these questions. As the buyer is acquiring the company as a whole, they will inherit its trading history, including its dealings with HMRC. As a result, the buyer will likely conduct a thorough financial inquiry to uncover any potential issues.

In this blog post, we address this issue: "Help, two members of staff have just had an argument which turned physical. How do I handle this?" We look at the importance of conducting a thorough investigation and understanding that fairness is key in this process, ensuring employees have the right to be accompanied and allowing them the opportunity to appeal if necessary.
