📣 NEW DECTECH BUZZ 📣 - The G20’s Agenda: What Really Worries Their Electorate In light of the recent #USElection and the start of the #G20Summit today we take a look at which issues are most pressing to which nations. The below figure from our new #DectechBuzz utilises data from research we ran earlier this year to show how concerns differ between the UK and US specifically. While both nations share a high concern for international violence, they differ in other domains. For example, the US are more fearful of their political system, while long-term health is a greater worry for the UK. These differences may offer insight into how the current economic or political climate of each country influences the fears of its citizens. #FakeNews, including misinformation, propaganda and conspiracy is everywhere. To address this, researchers have began to create #AI fake news detectors. This article discusses how Neuroscience and #BehaviouralScience are being combined to detect our unconscious responses to fake content and train large language models to better identify it. These AI tools may even be able to counteract harmful content by providing warnings or links to credible sources, for example. Read the full article here: https://buff.ly/40EeKdQ

In #MarketResearch, how do we uncover people's real preferences, if what they report doing is different to their actions? #Research by Dectech highlights why revealed preference methods are more insightful than traditional stated preference surveys, allowing us to make better predictions of people's #Choices. Revealed preference techniques work by observing choices made in real-world environments. Our case study on UK supermarket sales compared survey data with choices made in a realistic virtual store. The graph below shows the variance in sales data explained by the predictive model derived from each technique, with revealed preference outperforming all others. Many #Brands use loyalty programs to strengthen relationships with their customers, but are they actually having the opposite effect? This article argues that #LoyaltyProgrammes may have become too transactional, requiring a consumer-centred change to focus more on #Customer values and experience. In case you missed it - our latest #DectechBuzz explores the UK's biggest fears, from the threat of war to natural disasters and health problems. We surveyed over 2,000 UK citizens, asking them to rate their level of fear across 97 different Fear Statements. Through factor analysis, we grouped these fears into categories to reveal the nations most prevalent concerns. The below figure shows the statements that made it into the UK's top 10 fears and their corresponding Fear Category. The results highlight a strong emphasis on the well-being of our loved ones, with other personal concerns such as financial instability also high on the list. International violence is another central theme, with 4 of the top 10 fears falling into this category. At the current #G20Summit, world leaders gather to assess policies that tackle pressing global issues. Our latest #Research delves into the societal, environmental and personal issues that concern the UK the most and asks not only what are people afraid of but who is most concerned. Over 2,000 individuals rated their concern on various Fear Statements describing global and personal issues. The below figure illustrates how levels of fear vary among UK demographic groups. Females seem to be more afraid than males, and those with children under 18 also hold higher Fear Scores. Is this what you would expect from vulnerable groups? Does any of the data surprise you?
