As we take a break for Christmas we would like to thank all of our customers for trusting us to get the best out of their bikes. There are also some some special thanks to those that have helped us to achieve some very special things, in particular the Access2Bikes scheme with Delapré Abbey who include Cummins Inc. and their staff for both funding and bike donations, the Local Area Partners from Public Health, Justine Horrocks Emilie Vavasour Christopher Serbyn Far Cotton and Delapre Community Council Harry Fairclough Careers's Fund Northants Community Aid and anyone and everyone that has donated a bike. ****Access2Bikes Scheme***** If you are upgrading junior Bikes in your household this Christmas please bear us in mind. We really need some donation bikes which we can service and recycle into the hands of young people for who, this maybe the only way that could get a bike. I make no apologies for the scratched record and if you could see the faces of the kids we give these bikes to (with a helmet and training) you would know why!

Lashing rain, sunshine, gale force winds, drizzle, just a few of the we that conditions faced by volunteers and competitors yesterday as 267 riders ranging in age from 6 to 60+ got joyfully muddy in round 6 of the Central Cyclo-Cross League. This is the first time a race of this type has been hosted by the Abbey and a rare event for the county and despite the course marking being in constant repair from the wind lashing, the League and British Cycling officials declared it a huge success and expressed the wish that we do it again next year. We are very proud to have been involved with the event which was run by a small team who met challenges thrown down by the day with skill and humour; and so a huge thank you to volunteers from the Delapré Abbey, Northamptonshire Sport and British Cycling but in particular, John Hullett, Dave Turner (and Izzy) and Joanna Danvers for the full day they also spent in set up for making it such a success – images courtesy of @Adrian Howes Photography

I am delighted to report that we have been asked to host a stand in the Mens Tour of Britain cycle race Fans Village based in the University of Northampton campus on 7th September. This gives us a fantastic opportunity to showcase the Access2Bikes scheme that we operate in collaboration with Delapré Abbey Preservation Trust and Public Health England. The basics of the scheme is that through schools in Northamptonshire we identify children who are unlikely to be able to own a bike of their own. Using funds from Commercial Sponsors and some public money we refurbish donated bikes and deliver them to the schools where they handed over to their new owners, together with a new helmet and some bike skills training

***DELAPRE BIKE DOCTOR FROG BIKE AGENCY ANNOUNCEMENT*** We are absolutely delighted to announce that we are now an agent for Frog Bikes. The Lightweight kids bikes are a particular joy and we have fleet of 6 bikes at the workshop from Scoot Bike and up, ready for you or your budding Tom Pidcock to come and test ride. We are also in the process of becoming a Frog Bike MOT Centre, so providing the complete care package

Our involvement with the bike programme continues but so does the need to find bikes that we can refurbish and get them into the hands of the kids that need them. Please get in touch if you can help
