Today, we welcomed His Majesty The King to our Centre for Injury Studies. Imperial researchers discussed the UK’s support for injured service personnel in Ukraine and the vital link between research and humanitarian efforts. The King was joined on the visit by Ambassador of Ukraine to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, General Valerii Zaluzhnyi. The Centre for Injury Studies is Imperial’s convergence science vehicle for teams of engineers, scientists and clinicians to work together to develop new ways of protecting against, diagnosing, treating, and rehabilitating patients following traumatic injuries. We look forward to hearing from Marc Stettler, Professor in Transport and the Environment in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London, as he discusses Quantifying the Causal Effect of Emissions and Interventions on Air Quality. The implementation of London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in 2019 and the 2020 COVID-19 lockdown offer insights into emission control impacts on air quality. These findings highlight the complexity of air pollution dynamics and emphasize the need for coordinated, multi-sectoral policies.
