About us
Vision: We craft inspiring and distinctive space where people thrive. Purpose: We design and curate long-life, low carbon, intelligent offices that contribute to London’s position as a leading global city. Values: We build long-term relationships. We lead by design. We act with integrity. Derwent London is the largest central London office focused REIT. We are a different kind of investor and developer; our reputation is built on decisive action in four crucial areas at the heart of our progressive business model. By championing advancements in design, sustainability, technology and people-centricity, we deliver inspiring and distinctive buildings where people thrive and communities grow together. As part of our desire to lead the industry in mitigating climate change, we have committed to becoming a net zero carbon business by 2030. In 2019, the Group became the first UK REIT to sign a Revolving Credit Facility with a 'green' tranche. At the same time, we also launched our Green Finance Framework and signed the Better Buildings Partnership's climate change commitment. We have science-based carbon targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). Our investment portfolio now totals 5.4 million sq ft and is worth £4.9 billion. Landmark buildings in our portfolio include 1 Soho Place W1, 80 Charlotte Street W1, Brunel Building W2, White Collar Factory EC1, Angel Building EC1, 1+2 Stephen Street W1, Horseferry House SW1 and Tea Building E1. The success of our business is down to a dedicated team. We are a diverse group of highly skilled professionals with a range of perspectives and corporate experience. In January 2022, we were proud to announce that we had achieved the National Equality Standard - the UK's highest benchmark for equality, diversity and inclusion. In May 2023, we were recognised on the Sunday Times Best Places to Work list. By investing in our people, we invest in our business, ensuring we generate sustainable long-term value.

We’re delighted to see the feature on BBC’s #TheOneShow about the incredible work of The Whitefield Charity SK Corporation’s Soup Kitchen and their new #HomeKitchenDiner in London's Primrose Hill. This world-first fine-dining restaurant, led by two-Michelin-starred chef Adam Simmonds, is providing life-changing opportunities for individuals who’ve experienced homelessness and helping them build meaningful careers in hospitality.

Please do listen to our recent podcast with Paul Williams, the Chief Executive of Derwent London. It contains some great insights into the current state of the real estate market, tenant collaboration and net zero - and, of course, some great humour from Paul. Apologies in advance for my rather loud laugh! Thank you again Paul for such an interesting discussion.

"At Derwent, doing more with less has always been in our DNA and design-approach. We’ve been driving meaningful sustainability for many years with stringent carbon targets across our projects. The embodied carbon of sub & super-structure however is the next major challenge, so through our initiative, Accelerating Concrete-Decarbonisation Group (AC-DG), we’ve been working closely with other developers, engineers, construction contractors and materials producers to bridge the gap between supply of low to zero carbon concrete, specification needs and market demand. #BuildAheadUK offers us an important platform to build on this vital work, while addressing many of the other challenges to creating true net zero buildings. Even in a tough market for developers, we can’t afford to take our eye off carbon and #sustainableconstruction in this decisive decade. We look forward to working closely with Xynteo and partners through the Build Ahead UK coalition to increase the supply of fit-for-purpose low carbon materials. Through this ecosystem collaboration, we see great potential to pilot new technologies and feedback our findings to the wider market and policy-makers." - Benjamin Lesser, Head of Design and Innovation, Derwent London. #derwentlondon2030 #climateaction #netzero
This week marked a significant milestone in sustainable construction as industry leaders gathered for the launch of Build Ahead UK. This coalition brings together pioneers across the built environment value chain to accelerate the transition to truly net-zero, nature-positive buildings. In a packed room at the White Chapel Building in London, we witnessed competitors become collaborators, challenges become opportunities, and the collective creation of a shared future vision. Attendees rolled up their sleeves and worked together to address problem statements on increasing circularity in construction and development, increasing the flow and uptake of capital for ambitious sustainability, and enabling the implementation of end-to-end sustainable buildings. Our founding members are united by a shared ambition: to demonstrate that end-to-end zero-carbon buildings can be made a reality, today, through collective action. Build Ahead UK’s value collaboration model brings together industry actors aiming to enable the market and create a construction and design blueprint that works for both people and planet. We see this as a movement to be reinspired about our built environment and reimagine what’s possible. To our founding partners - thank you for choosing to lead rather than follow. Together, we're turning systemic challenges into opportunities for Good Growth Know more about about Build Ahead UK > https://lnkd.in/gDu6w5VV Read our press release > https://lnkd.in/gUFficgU PLP Architecture Santander UK Derwent London Emrah Durusut Shaiyra Devi #Sustainability #NetZero #Construction #ClimateAction #Innovation #Collaboration #BuildAheadUK #WholeLifeCarbon #SustainableConstruction #NetZero #GoodGrowth

We have reached the ninth floor of Network W1, marking a significant milestone in the project. The Topping Out Ceremony is an important moment in any development, symbolising the transition into the final stage of construction. Richard Baldwin, Director of Development at Derwent London, Stuart Piercy, Director at Piercy&Company, and David Rowsell, MD at Kier Construction, led the celebrations reflecting on the enormous collaborative effort that has brought us to this point. Located on a prominent corner in Fitzrovia, Network W1 is an intelligent and sustainably designed building with less than a year to go until completion. A huge thank you to our partners KIER Construction, Piercy&Company, Elliott Wood, NDY, B&CO, and AECOM, amongst many others, for their continued work on this exciting project.
