  • Private Hire possibilities at Design District London 💭 Last week, we welcomed innovative brands Compound Footwear and Esses to host an exclusive pop-up event at Design District. The moment showcased cutting-edge fashion, eco-conscious design and the thrilling culture of motorsport, all against the striking backdrop of Building D4.    Created by renowned architects #BarozziVeiga – also known for their redesign of the Art Institute of Chicago and the Aesop store in Barcelona – Building D4 has a powerful, polished aluminium facade, commanding a prominent presence across the District.    Timed with the opening of F1® 75 Live at The O2, #Formula1 fans were welcomed to the event by Ayrton Senna’s 1983 Toleman F1 Car, located outside of Building D4, in the District’s Central Courtyard.     Attendees were also able to pre-order the highly anticipated Compound ‘Monte Carlo’ sneaker, crafted from re-purposed motorsport tyres – combining sustainability with luxury design and comfort.    Following the showcase, guests enjoyed complimentary drinks from JUBEL and #MostWantedWine, while soaking in the vibrant Design District atmosphere with live music, from artist & music producer Ed Graves, DJ and drummer Derrick McKenzie from #Jamiroquai, and DJs from Baked Sessions.     Looking for a venue to host your next pop-up? • In search of an inspiring new workspace in London? Last year, we welcomed multi-award-winning architecture practice, Kettle Collective, to Design District London. Now based in Building D4, Kettle’s London studio (their first in the capital) has continued to grow, creating architecture with a strong sense of place and purpose. We currently have a private floor with over 2,500 sq ft of space available in D4, the same building as Kettle Collective. Colin Bone, Managing Director of Kettle Collective recently shared: “Establishing our London studio at Design District has been a fantastic step for Kettle Collective. Being surrounded by a diverse creative community fosters collaboration and innovation, key values that drive our work globally. From our new home in Building D4, we continue to push the boundaries of sustainable and meaningful design.” With a global portfolio that celebrates the identity of each location, Kettle's recent work includes The Al Mouj Community Hub in Oman and the Solar Innovation Centre in Dubai, exemplars of projects that push the boundaries of innovative and sustainable design. • Earlier this month we were proud to host the Design Council Homes Taskforce, which convened experts from across the built-environment to tackle the challenge of delivering 1.5 million homes within the UK's climate commitments. Key voices included Tom Copley, London’s Deputy Mayor for Housing, and members of the Government’s Towns Taskforce, Sowmya Parthasarathy and Nick Raynsford, along with Matt Hawkins, CEO of Knight Dragon. We’re excited to support initiatives like this, driving conversations about sustainability, quality, and equity in design. Keep an eye out for the taskforce’s upcoming findings! #DesignForPlanet #BuiltEnvironment #HomesTaskforce

This autumn, the Design Council Homes Taskforce has convened a wide group of built-environment experts to help Government solve the design challenge of delivering 1.5million homes whilst limiting global within the Government’s legal climate commitments. Early in November, we visited Greenwich Millennium Village with members of the Design Council Homes Taskforce to host a roundtable discussion on sustainable urban extensions. We were joined by experts in the design and delivery of new places including Tom Copley, Deputy Mayor for London for Housing, and Sowmya Parthasarathy and Nick Raynsford, both members of the Government’s new Towns Taskforce. Thank you to Design District London, London’s first and only purpose-built home for the full spectrum of creative industries, for hosting us. Last week we held a roundtable at Park Hill, Sheffield to consider the challenges and opportunities to enable successful regeneration and refurbishment projects. It was great to be joined by the Mayor of South Yorkshire, Oliver Coppard, and the leader of Sheffield Council, Tom Hunt as well as Mark Latham, Jonathan Faulkingham, Annalie Riches and David Bickle who have all contributed to the recent regeneration of the Park Hill Estate. Soon we’ll publish our findings, with the aim of setting a new design agenda for the new Government, focused on sustainability, quality and equity. #HomesTaskforce #DesignForPlanet #Sheffield #Greenwich #BuiltEnvironment
