A bold plan - From Old Mill to buzzing Business Park But wait....it's within the International Dark Skies Reserve! Hampshire's Hazeley Group Ltd had an ambitious four-year plan, to turn an old mill site into a vibrant business hub with modern offices, industrial units, a café ☕️ , and meeting areas. In order to comply with guidelines, DFL created a lighting scheme that would suit all parties. 🦇🧍 🏡 You know the drill, grab a cuppa and head over to our website for the full story. We are currently working on nearly 100 projects! Keeping standards high on one or two projects is easy...repeating that quality on multiple projects at any one time, takes skill, knowledge and a great plan... This is what we do! Projects are either being worked on by the project teams or are being checked by a our qualified staff to ensure the projects are not just designed, but checked AND approved. Quality is a founding stone for DFL and something we take very seriously, so every piece of work is peer checked and authorised by a senior engineer. To give you some idea of the breadth of work we complete, here's a sanitised list of a handful of our current live projects: ~ Highway lighting and electrical design for major motorway interchanges ~ The city centre street lighting of a large Hampshire Town ~ Campus lighting for a large University ~ A waterfront lighting design in Kent ~ Waterside lighting for a boat hire centre #QualityAssurance #EngineeringExcellence #TeamWork #InfrastructureDevelopment #UrbanLighting #PeerReviewProcess

🤔 Do you ever look at something and wonder what it would take to make it just that little bit better? Or is that just me? (Honest answers are allowed!) I mean, it really gives you the ick 😬 but one tiny tweak could make it so much better? 🎾 For me, it’s Padel courts. (Cue sharp intake of breath) 😅 Personally, I think they’re a great idea and I would actually even love to learn to play. (Mainly because there’s a bit of FOMO hearing the other school dad’s raving about Padel on the school run 🤣) But…at night time, I just keep seeing terrible lighting on the majority of them! Padel is booming, and courts are popping up everywhere. So…we have to get to a handle on this pretty quickly! Many of these Padel courts come as pre-designed kits—including lighting. (Which, is great for the installers and customers of these kits because it’s an out of the box solution. Who wouldn’t opt for that?). But here’s the problem: These lighting solutions are often not designed with the fundamentals of lighting at the forefront of the design. Not to mention ecology receptors, human amenity, or the wider environment. This is why many Padel court planning applications hit a brick wall 🧱 Excessive artificial light can disrupt wildlife, contribute to skyglow, and impact people living nearby. Simple design adjustments such as; well-shielded, well orientated, warm colour temperature lighting can make a huge difference to the appearance and overall feel for these brilliant facilities. As the sport grows, let’s ensure padel court lighting is designed and installed responsibly. Because we will be simultaneously growing our existing light pollution problem without even realising it. 😳 Have you come across poorly designed sports lighting? Let’s discuss! #Padel #LightingDesign #SustainableSport #Environment
