Supporting Younger Stroke Survivors to Reclaim Their Lives
About us
Each year there are 100,000 strokes in the UK; 1 in 4 of these occur in somebody of working age or younger. Different Strokes is a stroke charity run by younger stroke survivors for younger stroke survivors. We help younger stroke survivors and their families in the UK to reclaim their lives through active peer support. We recognise that our community of younger stroke survivors and family members are the experts in stroke recovery and rehabilitation with first-hand knowledge of the issues and challenges facing families after a stroke.

A HUGE thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund who awarded us a grant of £18,798 enabling us to fund essential services for younger stroke survivors, start work on improving our information packs and provide all new exercise sessions in 2025. Austin Willett, CEO of Different Strokes, shared: “This National Lottery Community funding is empowering us to do even more for stroke survivors and their families. With these new projects, we’re able to provide better resources, reach more people, and offer support where it’s needed most. We’re incredibly grateful to everyone who plays the National Lottery for helping make this happen.” We want to thank everyone involved, from the National Lottery to our dedicated community members who have contributed their feedback and ideas. Together, we’re working towards a brighter, more supported future for all those affected by stroke at a younger age. #NationalLottery
