If you're interested in #Islamicart and #science, this exhibition is definitely one not to miss! It was a pleasure to contribute perspectives on medieval 'scientists' and Islamic visual culture to the planning and publication over these last few years. 'Wonders of Creation explores intersections of art and science in Islamic intellectual and visual culture from the 8th century to the present day, using the lens of “wonder” as defined by a celebrated 13th-century Islamic cosmography, an influential text describing the wonders of the universe. Written in Arabic and Persian by the scholar Zakariyya ibn Muhammad al-Qazwini (d. 1283), The Wonders of Creation and Rarities of Existence catalogues the marvels of the universe in a single, richly illustrated book.' Congrats to curator Dr. Ladan Akbarnia and the San Diego Museum of Art on this exciting exhibition! 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽

A project very very dear to my heart has now launched: Our first Persian- language video is live on Khamseen! Tune in and listen to Negar Habibi discuss the term Farangi and Farangi painting in Persian art. The video has Persian audio as well as Persian closed captions. It also has English closed captions, which means you can listen to the Persian and see the English translation simultaneously. You can also just listen to the audio. It’s perfect for language learning and more related resources, such as bilingual language learning worksheets, will be published in 2025! And if you prefer to watch the talk with English audio, that’s possible, too! Please check it out and please let your friends and colleagues know. All of this would not have been possible without the very hard work of Negar, Sarah Osama Abou-Zied, and Bihter Esener. Thank you so very much to each and every one of you دست شما درد نکنه! Find the Persian video page here (with Persian audio and closed captions in Persian or English): https://lnkd.in/ditgxEQY Here’s the English version (with English audio and English closed captions) : https://lnkd.in/dNkvTGaA
