  • 🏆 Day 9 of Our 2024 Highlights 🏆 We only went an won an award! In June, we were honored to be recognised at the Metro Employee Excellence Awards, receiving a "Highly Commended" accolade in the "Family Business of the Year" category. Held at the iconic Titanic Hotel in Liverpool and hosted by Vernon Kay, the awards celebrated businesses of all sizes from across the UK. This recognition is a tribute to our nearly 50-year legacy, started by Dominick Murray and carried forward by his sons, Michael and Trevor. At Dowhigh, “family” is more than a category—it’s the heart of our ethos. From fostering close relationships with our team to building strong partnerships in the communities we serve, this value is woven into everything we do. • 🚧 Day 8 of Our 2024 Highlights 🚧 At the start of 2024, we took on an exciting project for Sefton Council at the Marine Lake Events Centre (MLEC) in Southport, preparing for the ambitious redevelopment of the Floral Hall. The project involves the demolition of the existing hall to make way for a modern, state-of-the-art facility. Our role? Updating critical drainage and sewer systems before demolition could begin. The team mobilised quickly, with works including lane closures on the promenade carefully timed to minimise disruption, particularly during the busy Easter period. Both stages were completed ahead of schedule, ensuring smoother travel for locals and visitors alike. It’s an exciting time for Southport, with this redevelopment and plans to improve the pier setting the stage for a brighter future. We’re thrilled to play our part in transforming the town! Stay tuned as we count down more highlights to Christmas! #2024Highlights #SouthportTransformation #FloralHallRedevelopment #SeftonCouncil #DowhighProjects #BuildingForTomorrow #InfrastructureMatters

  • 🎨 Day 7 of Our 2024 Highlights 🎨 This year, we were thrilled to support Anfield Infants School in rejuvenating their playground, right in the heart of our Liverpool community near our Priory Road scheme. Our team tackled two areas of the playground—removing an old sandpit and replacing it with astroturf, and clearing out old planters and another sandpit to install durable bitmac. The highlight? When the children jumped in to help! Their energy, enthusiasm, and creative advice were unforgettable. Back in the classroom, they even started designing their own digger! We were touched to receive a handmade thank-you card from the children and a special note from the headmistress. Moments like these remind us why we love giving back to the communities we serve. • 🚶♀️ Day 6 of Our 2024 Highlights 🚶♂️ Throughout 2024, we’ve been hard at work in Manchester on behalf of Manchester City Council on vital footway reconstructions and car park resurfacing projects. These upgrades play a critical role in making the city safer and more accessible for everyone. Footway resurfacing is about more than aesthetics—it’s about ensuring smooth, hazard-free surfaces for all pedestrians, including those with mobility challenges and wheelchair users. Every step counts toward creating a more inclusive and welcoming urban environment. But our work in Manchester didn’t stop there! As part of our social values commitment to the city, we delivered neurodiverse books to 13 schools, supporting inclusivity and education. We were also thrilled to contribute supplies to the Manchester Play Day in August, a vibrant community event celebrating creativity and play for local families. From infrastructure improvements to community enrichment, it’s been a rewarding journey to support Manchester’s growth and inclusivity in 2024. • 🤝 Day 5 of Our 2024 Highlights 🤝 In August, Dowhigh played a pivotal role in the cleanup after the unrest on St. Lukes Road in Southport. Our team joined the effort alongside Sefton Council, local businesses, and community volunteers, with our Director, Brian Morrey, arriving at 3am to help coordinate operations. We provided vital support, including reinstating tarmac and assisting the local mosque with immediate cleanup needs. This collaborative effort was recognised at a meeting with representatives from 10 Downing Street, where we shared insights on the importance of local business involvement in recovery and resilience-building. We’re incredibly proud of the Dowhigh team, many of whom live locally and were deeply committed to this effort. The cleanup and subsequent discussions highlighted the power of partnerships in restoring community spirit and infrastructure. • 🏞️ Day 4 of Our 2024 Highlights 🏞️ Earlier in the year we completed a brand-new asphalt area in Sherdley Park, commissioned by St Helens Council. This pristine space, completed in March, looked absolutely glorious in the spring sunshine 🌞—and for good reason! The newly surfaced area is set to be transformed into a skatepark, a project announced by the council in 2023. This exciting development is part of a broader effort to enhance recreational opportunities in the park, providing a vibrant hub for skaters, BMX riders, and the local community to enjoy. We’re thrilled to have played a part in laying the groundwork (quite literally!) for a facility that will bring fun, fitness, and connection to so many. Projects like this remind us of the importance of creating spaces where communities can come together and thrive. Stay tuned for more of our 2024 stories as we count down to Christmas! #SherdleyPark #StHelensCouncil #2024Highlights #BuildingForTheFuture #ActiveCommunities

  • 🎨 Day 3 of Our 2024 Highlights 🎨 In February, we attended the unveiling of the stunning Red Rum Club Mural at Salt and Tar in Bootle, created by the incredibly talented local artist Paul Curtis. 🖌️ Known for his striking wall murals, Paul has made his mark across the region with iconic works like the Red Rum mural on Southport’s Promenade and Toad Hall in Ainsdale. In January, we were approached by Sefton Council to see if we could assist with the project by providing a cherry picker for Paul to complete his work. Of course, we were thrilled to help bring this fantastic piece of art to life! The unveiling event was a proud moment, attended by Cllr Marion Atkinson, leader of Sefton Council, and Bootle MP Peter Dowd. It also marked the beginning of an exciting year for the Salt and Tar venue, which went on to host the Comedy Weekender in May and unforgettable performances by Status Quo and Tom Jones later in the year. This project wasn’t just about art; it was about celebrating local talent, music, and community. • 🌟 Day 2 of Our 2024 Highlights 🌟 In June, our team tackled a major project in Melling, working on behalf of Sefton Council to completely resurface over 650m of Prescot Road leading up to the roundabout at Bank Lane. 🚧 Given the tight and narrow nature of the road, completing the works under traffic lights wasn’t an option. Instead, we carefully planned the project across three evenings to minimize disruption for local residents and commuters. This meticulous approach allowed us to complete the work efficiently while keeping the community moving. In total, we relaid over 4,700 square metres of bitmac, ensuring a smooth, safe, and long-lasting road surface for everyone who travels this key route. This project exemplifies our commitment to precision, quality, and community-centered solutions. Stay tuned for more stories as we look back at our incredible year! 🛠️ #Melling #Sefton #RoadSurfacing #BuildingBetterJourneys #2024InReview

  • 🎉 2024: A Year to Remember with Dowhigh 🎉 As the year comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on what has been an extraordinary 2024 for Dowhigh. From embarking on transformative projects to supporting meaningful community initiatives, it’s been a year of growth, collaboration, and giving back. 🌟 A Season of Giving Back: Lord Street in Bloom 🌟 In October, the Dowhigh team rolled up their sleeves to support the Lord Street In Bloom team in a heartwarming project outside the Atkinson Gallery in Southport. Over three days, our dedicated team worked alongside volunteers from Lord Street in Bloom and staff from Sefton Council to rejuvenate the flower beds and spruce up the surrounding area. To cap it all off, we hosted a Corporate Day, where colleagues from across our business joined forces with community volunteers to give the project its finishing touches. It was a fantastic example of teamwork and a shared commitment to making a difference in our communities. 🏛️ A Special Acknowledgment 🏛️ Our efforts didn’t go unnoticed! Just a few weeks later, we had the privilege of meeting with local MP Patrick Hurley, who personally thanked us for our contribution to the project. His thoughtful letter of gratitude reinforced the importance of coming together to uplift our communities, and we were truly honored to play a role in this initiative. 🌸 A Garden with a Deeper Meaning 🌸 This wasn’t just about beautifying a space; it was about creating a place of solace and remembrance. The work took place in the Memorial Garden, which has now been replanted to add vibrant color and renewed life to the area. The space will also serve as a touching tribute, allowing the Lord Street in Bloom team to plant flowers in memory of the tragic events that occurred in Southport this past July. This project exemplifies the power of collaboration and compassion, and it’s just one of the many stories we’ll be sharing with you over the coming weeks. Stay tuned as we count down to Christmas with more highlights from 2024—projects, partnerships, and the causes that made this year unforgettable. ✨ Here’s to a season of reflection, gratitude, and looking ahead to an even brighter 2025! ✨ #Dowhigh2024 #GivingBack #SocialValues #Southport #LordStreet #Sefton
