What a superb night at the 2024 Southport New Comedian Of The Year competition sponsored by Dragon Soop at Southport Comedy Festival last night. Congratulations to winner Henry Michael, and everyone who competed - we saw eight up and coming comedians of the highest quality. I enjoyed being a festival judge once again, we had a really tough job of deciding the winners and finalists. Southport Comedy Festival has grown to become such an impressive event, attracting visitors to Southport from all over the country at a good time for them to come and give a boost to local businesses. The venue this year, a luxury marquee created by Elite Marquees - Marquee Hire is incredible. Great food by T-Bone & Co and drinks from Elite Bars. There have been some superb gigs so far and what a week ahead - Ben Elton, Jason Manford, Ria Lina and Paul Sinha, Jason Byrne, Rich Hall, Jimeoin. Some shows are fully sold out but there are tickets available for others. Come and enjoy live comedy while it’s here! As ever, there’s fantastic support for the festival from a variety of sponsors including headline sponsors Halliwell Jones and others who make this growing event possible. It’s great to see this event making headlines in Southport for all the right reasons. There’s a fantastic line-up of comedians ahead this week.
