An extraordinary family of schools, educators, parents, and children.
About us
Dukes Education is a family of schools and education organisations based in the UK. We bring together schools that are diverse in their offering, and yet united as outstanding examples of teaching and learning. Though a relatively new organisation, launched in 2015, Dukes has grown quickly and, in 2021 has four boarding and day colleges, 11 schools and 12 ‘Little Dukes’ feeder nurseries, with eight summer school locations, and a multi-branch university application consultancy service, over 4,400 pupils and just under 2,000 staff. Many of these schools and organisations are long-established, with decades of experience providing excellent teaching and care to students. We are now of sufficient scale to begin to shape what excellence looks like in the education space for children of all ages. Dukes celebrates the autonomy of our schools, with Principals and Heads leading on all decisions. Each member organisation is distinctive. However, we joined together because we found cultures in these organisations that shared characteristics – optimism, ambition, and a deep commitment to outstanding teaching and learning. We believe that together we will be more powerful in helping young people go on to live fulfilling lives.

Cardiff Sixth Form College Wins 3rd Major Award in 2024 We are thrilled to announce that Cardiff Sixth Form College has been named Welsh Independent Secondary School of the Year for Academic Excellence by The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide 2025. This marks the college’s third major award this year, following wins as Boarding School of the Year at the Independent Schools Association (ISA) Annual Awards and Independent School of the Year for International Student Experience at the Independent Schools of the Year Awards. These accolades highlight CSFC’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, outstanding pastoral care, and the exceptional experiences they provide to their diverse international community. The Sunday Times Parent Power Guide is widely regarded as the UK’s most authoritative survey of top-performing schools, combining GCSE and A-Level results to create a definitive ranking. The guide includes a searchable database of over 2,000 schools, enabling parents to compare academic performance locally and nationally. Many congratulations to the CSFC community another outstanding achievement.

Poetry Together competition winners met Her Majesty Queen Camilla at Buckingham Palace. The Queen received Colin Hinton, 92 and Avi Goel, 9 at the palace to hear their winning poems on the theme ‘happiness’. Colin and Avi were introduced to Her Majesty by Poetry Together’s Founder, Gyles Brandreth, together with Aatif Hassan, Founder and Chairman of Dukes Education, the organisation that partners with Gyles to run Poetry Together. Her Majesty The Queen has been a wonderful supporter of Poetry Together and its aim of connecting generations through the joy of poetry since its inception five years ago. Poetry Together is about people, young and old, getting together all over the country to share their poems over tea and cake, with incredible outcomes and stories of connection. Studies have shown that learning poetry by heart improves performance academically at school, improving concentration, and even supporting better sleep. For older people, evidence shows that learning poetry by heart can give you a happier and more successful life. Poetry Together adds a further dimension - the well-documented benefit of younger and older generations working together. There is something quite special about people from two ends of the generational spectrum, connecting and having a chat over a cup of tea. It is a wonderful way to being communities closer together. The theme of this year’s Poetry Together competition is ‘friendship’. Click here for details https://lnkd.in/exaqWyRg

Gyles Brandreth is the Founder of Poetry Together, an education initiative run by Dukes Education and also wonderfully supported by HM The Queen. Poetry Together aims to unite young and old through the joy of poetry, promoting all the wonderful benefits that come from learning poetry, alongside those to be gained from younger and older people working together. At the 2024 Poetry Together event 1,000 people came together at the prestigious Central Hall Westminster to immerse themselves in all things poetry. They enjoyed workshops and performances from top poets such as Joseph Coelho, Steve Camden and Laura Mucha. Some of our guests took the opportunity to perform in the Great Hall themselves and students from Dukes Education schools, Broomwood, Eaton Square Prep School and The Lyceum were among the performers. Poetry Together’s partners, The Poetry Society and the FORWARD ARTS FOUNDATION also attended and offered immersive poetry activities to the guests. The event promoted the Poetry Together initiative which encourages younger and older communities to connect and recite poetry together over tea and cake. #leadingwithheart #wedoitwell
