Showcasing Dundee as a creative place to live, visit, study or do business with.

About us

Dundee is a great place to live and work. And you don’t just have to take our word for it - the city was recently named in the “Top 12 Places to Live in the UK” by The Times newspaper. The world-renowned publication named the City of Discovery as “Scotland’s new capital of cool” and one of its “favourite places to immerse yourself in city living, whatever your age.” Among the reasons for that acclaim were a £1billion makeover of the Waterfront area, the city’s food and café culture, arts venues and affordable house prices. Dundee has been in the international media spotlight since the opening of the stunning new V&A Dundee museum in September 2018. The city has been named on National Geographic Traveller UK’s Cool List 2019, praised for its “dynamic, creative spirit” by Lonely Planet and described as the “coolest little city in Britain” by GQ. Schools in Dundee have been subject to a £100m modernisation programme – with seven new schools opening in 2018 - while others have already been fitted out to 21st century standards. Within the city, there are fantastic places to enjoy the outdoors, including the golden sands of Broughty Ferry beach and the green jewel in Dundee’s crown, Camperdown Park. And of course the scenic Highlands and some of the world’s best golf courses are right on our doorstep. Dundee’s cultural quarter is buzzing with cafes, bars and restaurants to fit all tastes and budgets. A huge range of shopping options are also on offer in Dundee, from High Street outlets to small boutique premises. With fantastic entertainment facilities, including Dundee Rep Theatre, Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA), two cinema multiplexes, an ice rink, museums, art galleries and two professional football teams, there is no shortage of things to do for people of all ages. The Dundee City Council budget consultation for 2025/26 is now under way. This weekend, why not have your say on spending priorities and the level of Council Tax, as well as a range of specific options put forward by officers in response to the Council’s potential budget gap? Take part here: https://lnkd.in/euW8UtjN Participants - indviduals or organisations - can respond to as many or as few of the specific options as they wish. Cllr Mark Flynn said: “If you have an opinion that you want to share on spending priorities, Council Tax or any of the officer options then the budget consultation is the way to do that. “It’s important to stress that no decisions have been taken. What we need to do is listen to the views of people, to understand their priorities and any impacts that changes will have on them. “The more people who take part, and the more detailed feedback given, the more informed our decision making will be.”

The Dundee City Council budget #consultation for 2025/26 is now live. Have your say on spending priorities and the level of Council Tax, as well as a range of specific options put forward by officers in response to the Council’s potential budget gap. Take part here: https://lnkd.in/euW8UtjN Participants can respond to as many or as few of the specific options as they wish. Free internet access is available in all libraries, with IT support from staff. Citizens can also take part via paper forms available in libraries and community centres. The Council wants to ensure that as many people as possible take part in the consultation ahead of decisions on the Council budget being set in the new year. The detail of the Council’s funding for 2025/26 is not known at the time of launching the consultation. However, it is predicted that further savings of over £15million could be needed next year – equivalent to a 29% increase in #CouncilTax. The Council will have a clearer indication of any gap in December when next year’s funding settlement is known and details of this will be made public in January in a report to elected members that sets out the implications of the settlement on the Council’s 2025/26 Budget. Council leader Cllr Mark Flynn said: “If you have an opinion that you want to share on spending priorities, Council Tax or any of the officer options then the budget consultation is the way to do that. “It’s important to stress that no decisions have been taken. What we need to do is listen to the views of people, to understand their priorities and any impacts that changes will have on them. “The more people who take part, and the more detailed feedback given, the more informed our decision making will be.”
