Not every journey follows a straight path. Zac faced challenges with exams and college, unsure of where he was heading. With the help of Springboard and work experience at Malmaison , he found a path that truly suits him. His journey shows that success doesn’t have to look the same for everyone. Sometimes, it’s about discovering what works for you. We'd like to say a huge thank you to Zac and Malmaison Dundee for chatting with us. #dywtaycities #career #careerpathways

About us
Developing the Young Workforce (DYW) is a Scottish Government strategy that outlines various actions to ensure young people have the skills and experiences to successfully move from education into employment and reduce youth unemployment rates. The strategy was developed as a result of recommendations made by the Commission for Developing Scotland’s Young Workforce, chaired by Sir Ian Wood. A key part of the DYW strategy is to bring businesses and education closer together. This strong link will help young people become more ‘work ready’, through various activities including providing high quality work inspirational activities, increasing the range of vocational qualifications and apprenticeships available and having business work with schools to help develop work- focussed curriculum. There are several Regional DYW Groups across Scotland, and our team’s remit covers the Tayside region. The groups are industry-led. This means that we respond to the needs, wants and ideas of the local labour market and work with education establishments to help meet these. Our work not only helps young people, but also supports local businesses of all sizes to meet their workforce needs. The DYW Tay Cities team is based at Dundee & Angus College, Gardyne Campus. 🎉 Catching Up with Our Winners! 🎉 Back in August, Callan Dalrymple took home the Apprentice Advocate of the year award at our DYW Tay Cities Awards Celebration. We recently caught up with Kilmac Ltd to hear how they felt about winning and what this recognition means to them. 🙌✨ 🏆 'Winning this award was an incredible moment of pride for Kilmac. It highlighted the hard work and commitment of our team, especially Callan, in making a positive impact. This recognition reinforces our commitment to creating opportunities for young people and showcases the value of investing in the next generation. It’s a great motivator for us to continue our efforts in this area. ' 🏆

We are both proud and saddened to share that Lisa will be moving on from her role with DYW Tay Cities in the new year, to take on an exciting new role. Lisa has been an inspiring leader, a driving force behind so many of our achievements, and a champion for young people across the region. Her dedication, passion, and vision have made an incredible impact on our team, our partners, and the countless lives touched by her work. While we will deeply miss her energy and expertise, we are thrilled to see her take this next step in her career. We know she will continue to excel and inspire in her new role.
I wanted to take a moment to share that I will be leaving DYW Tay Cities (Developing the Young Workforce) to take on an exciting new role with as Managing Director (Designated) Angus Training Group Ltd. While I am thrilled about this next chapter, it’s bittersweet to be saying goodbye to such an incredible team and experience. My time with DYW has been truly amazing. I am so grateful for the opportunity to be part of this journey and for the trust and belief John Duncan had in me when I first joined. He saw something in me that I hadn’t yet seen in myself, and that confidence has shaped my career in ways I’ll always appreciate. As I prepare to move on, I am proud to leave the team on a high, knowing the incredible work we’ve achieved together. I will always value the memories, the partnerships, and the impact we’ve made in inspiring young people across the region. I have so so many people to thank, the DYW Board Judith Golden Steven Stewart Holly Donald Jamie McBrearty Morven Withers Julie Grace Gordon Macfarlane Paul Mooney Daniel Rosie Lesley English John Gray The Whole team DYW Tay Cities (Developing the Young Workforce) You are amazing.
