Why should you invest in environmental reps within your operations❓ It all comes down to the triple bottom line. People. Planet. Profit. While we are all here to support an improved performance and reducing impacts on the environment must be at the core of everything we do, senior leaders need to understand the business implications of establishing E-Reps within their organisation and how it supports their triple bottom line. What will reps deliver to your business❓ ✅Driving Compliance and Environmental Risk Management E-Reps work with the workforce to help ensure that your operations comply with the relevant legislation. By keeping on top of new and existing requirements, you can avoid negative attention from authorities, customers and local communities, fines and legal challenges, and the reputational damage associated with non-compliance. ✅Cost Savings through Efficiency E-Reps identify opportunities to reduce resource consumption such as water, energy, and raw materials, and waste generation. Efficient practices not only reduce environmental impact, but they will also reduce operating costs. ✅Enhanced Reputation Demonstrating a commitment to your ESG responsibilities enhances your company's reputation among customers, competitors, investors and wider stakeholders groups. It also reduces your customer's risk profile and will attract new customers and investors who prefer sustainably managed businesses. ✅Risk Mitigation and Resilience E-Reps will effectively assess environmental risk with their in-depth operational knowledge and understanding of their facilities. They will identify new risk management solutions to build resilience against environmental challenges and protect your business from disruptions. ✅Innovation and Competitive Advantage Focusing on environmental management and sustainability can drive innovation within your organisation. E-Reps look for solutions to improve environmental performance which leads to the development of new products, processes, or services to appeal to a wider market. ✅Stakeholder Engagement and Relations Having E-Reps on your site improve relations with stakeholders. They can also directly engage with other levels in the organisation, NGOs and regulatory bodies. This proactive approach can help prevent conflicts and build support for your business. ✅Long-Term Sustainable Development Integrating environmental considerations into business strategy is the route to success. E-Reps support this and in doing so, contribute to the long-term sustainability of your operations. What benefits does environmental training bring to you and your company? In many organisations it is seen as a tick box and typically delivered via CBT. Any additional training would be dependant on role based competencies. Imagine for a minute, your workforce was fully engaged and aligned with your sustainability journey........this is when BIG change can happen... #environmentaltraining #environmentalmanagement #environmentalawareness

Last week we delivered a bespoke course to an offshore operator in the UKCS working through two decommissioning projects. Decommissioning presents a huge change to the environmental risk profile of an asset and a significant shift in mindset from the offshore workforce. The company wants to maintain a strong focus on their e-reps during the process to maintain engagement and communications on environmental impact both within the core crew, and the visiting contractors. The key take away was that we must keep pushing the environmental message. While e-reps may not play a major role in the early project decisions, they can certainly influence project outcomes in their role as leaders within the workforce, to make sure conversations, risk assessments and sharing lessons learned take place every day at the worksite. #decomissioning #environmentaltraining #environmentalawareness

Who is accountable for the environment in your organisation ❓ Are they delivering real change ❓ Environmental training isn’t just about the 2 days you spend in our class rooms, it’s making sure people actually follow through, which can only be driven from the senior leadership team. Without accountability, even the best training can be forgotten or ignored. Employees may feel it is someone else’s job, there are no clear goals, and without consequences or incentives, there’s little motivation to act. And this is where Environmental Reps have an essential role in driving change: ✅ Assign Responsibility Although reps can never be responsible for environmental performance, by creating the role with a clear leadership structure to lead and track progress, they can be responsible for specific activities which lead to the step wise changes in support of the high level objectives. ✅ Set Clear Goals SMART targets to measure and demonstrate success ✅ Make it Visible Use dashboards, reports, or even a leader board to show progress. ✅ Tie It to Performance Link environmental improvements to job evaluations or team bonuses. ✅ Encourage Peer Accountability Create teams and friendly competitions to keep everyone engaged. What strategies have you seen work in your organisation ❓ #workforceengagement #workforcerepresentatives #environmentalreps #sustainability #environmentaltraining #leadership

BEST Managers was created to deliver key messages on environmental compliance and protection, balanced by the need to embed environmental management in to existing business processes. Aside from making commercial sense, we know from experience that we can't make people care about these things. There is rarely a direct consequence to an individual at any level in an organisation when things don't go to plan. But, when budget holders can see the direct impact it has on their bottom line, and in fact triple bottom line, we start getting traction. If you want death by power point on lists of legislation, this is not the course for you. If you're in a leadership role and want to understand how you can drive your business sustainability, efficiently and profitably, join our next public course or find out how we can tailor #BESTManagers to your team❗ Key take aways from our last public course included: 💡One size does not fit all-environmental risk is very complex and it can take an organisation down if not managed correctly. 💡Effective environmental strategy needs design led thinking. 💡We are in a transition, it won't happen overnight. 💡Sustainability is not a new concept but it should be viewed as a science and not another marketing tool. #environmentalleadership #enviornmentalmanagement #sustainability #bestmanagers
