  • Hundreds of domestic and sexual abuse victims who walk through the doors of ELHT every year are being supported by a trio of Independent Domestic Violence Advisors. This amazing team are raising awareness of the support available for patients and colleagues experiencing abuse as part of the White Ribbon Campaign – an annual event taking place from 25 November to 10 December that aims to combat violence against women and girls. From developing a safety plan to putting people in touch with the right community support, the team provides a range of help and guidance. Independent Domestic Violence Advisor, Louise Boden, said: “We see hundreds of survivors across our sites each year who either have or are currently experiencing domestic or sexual abuse, and we want them to know that this support is available. “If it’s safe for you to do so, please let a member of staff know that you need support.” Thank you to this incredible team for the support you are providing for victims of domestic or sexual abuse. • Earlier this month we launched a Flow Heroes competition to highlight the amazing work taking place to support patient flow right around the Trust. 119 nominations were received, 50 more than last year, showcasing some brilliant examples of work happening every day, in every corner of our organisation. From Patient Service Assistants providing extra-speedy terminal cleans and specialist nurses supporting patients to avoid unnecessary admissions, to our Emergency Department team on the front line which always pulls together to put patients first, sometimes in impossible situations. Thank you for all that you do. One winner has been selected at random and they are… Ward B14🌟🌟 Their nomination said: ‘All staff continually support clinical flow by switching and flipping bays, moving patients, chasing pharmacy and doctors to promote safe and quick discharges. ‘All staff work unbelievably hard to achieve this on a daily basis.’  Congratulations to everyone on B14.

  • We have welcomed our first cohort of registered midwife degree apprentices from University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN)👏👏 Helen Cookson, Nicole Perry and Janine Matthews will attend university two days a week and work the remaining 21.5 hours of their contract in clinical practice at the Trust. They are part of a cohort from the four maternity provider Trusts in Lancashire and South Cumbria who are completing the three-year course. During that time they will rotate through placements covering the whole of maternity services at both the Burnley and Blackburn sites, including Blackburn birth centre and in the community. The programme is giving our existing maternity support workers an opportunity for career progression and is allowing us to develop our teams.
