We were very pleased to welcome Patrick Spencer MP and Cllr Neil MacDonald to our Henley Rise shopping precinct to see the transformation that has been undertaken, thanks to the support of Ipswich Borough Council and the Towns Fund and Shop Front Grant Scheme. This renovation not only benefits our Food store. It has rejuvenated the area for our tenants, including Fircroft Hairdressing, with freshly painted storefronts, new street furniture, landscaping and improved parking. A big thank you to Ashford Wright Ltd. for completing these works and for their continued commitment to maintaining this important community asset. #TownsFund #ShopFrontGrant #SupportLocal
About us
We got started because we felt there was a better way of doing business; one that would make a difference for its customers and the communities that we live in. To this very day those same values remain, despite having been founded over 150 years ago. In that time, we’ve grown to become one of the largest, totally independent businesses in the region, with over 200 stores and 3,000 employees. We’re set up very differently from someone like Tesco or Waitrose. We don’t have big corporate shareholders; our shareholders are the people who shop with us: our members. That means the decisions we make about how we run our business are always done with our shoppers in mind. If you shop with us regularly and aren't yet a member you can join us today: www.eastofengland.coop/join What also sets us apart from ordinary businesses is that we use profit to bring action to important local issues; by shopping with us you can help us invest back into the local community where support is needed most. From funding vital equipment for local hospitals to support for local food banks, donating to local good causes plays a key role in what we do.

To mark Black History month, we welcomed Suffolk Black History Community Organisation to our co-op last week to deliver a lunch and learn session to our colleagues. The workshop gave us an overview of Black History month and its significance in the UK, highlighted the need for diversity and inclusion in our workplaces and gave us some useful ideas on how we could enhance and improve the experience we’re offering to our colleagues, members, customers and clients across our co-op. Jordan Holder, Head of Talent Acquisition & Development and DEI Steering Group member at East of England Co-op said; "We were honoured to host Suffolk Black History Community Organisation to learn about the invaluable contributions of the Black community. We celebrate diversity and look forward to more community collaborations that educate and inspire us." Thank you to Suffolk Black History Community Organisation for sharing with us such an insightful, inspiring and motivating talk.
